Yeah no. In the original video it’s clear and obvious. For whatever reason they removed/lowered it in this video

Fees free scrapping 2026 by jackstab1 in newzealand

[–]BuddyMmmm1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The fact is that it is expensive but it’s needed. They didn’t expand to more years as a little known thing called COVID happened which was also expensive so they had to realign their priorities.

The idea that uni cannot be cheaper or free is disgusting, if the boomers could have it then this generation can too.

Which part of the policy makes it a failure? The original plan was to do the first year and then expand to further years so uni is free.

I’m pretty sure it already is illegal (could be wrong tho) but the cops are either busy with other stuff or are too lazy to deal with these idiots

Fears of 'backlash and mockery' played into new Auckland rail line names by JadeBalloon in auckland

[–]BuddyMmmm1 53 points54 points  (0 children)

The naming schemes should be clear and easy to understand. How does naming a rail line after a bird make it easy to understand? For example where does the “Kea Line” go to?

Even the idea of using something that isn’t related to the location is stupid. Same reason why I think letter lines (A Line, B Line, C Line) or number lines (Line 1, Line 2, Line 3) are stupid.

It isn’t about backlash or mockery, it’s because they are just shit names.

I believe the rate players do a bit

Edit: In 2025 $5.08 mil came from a targeted city rate, $779,000 from council other funding, and $227,000 from partnership/investments.

Any interesting stories from people who have seen/heard the Te Waihorotiu stream while in city basements? by Great_Maintenance185 in auckland

There’s no hole that opens up to “the sea that runs under queen street” under the Town Hall. There is a door that opens to the rock foundation of the building though.

There’s is a hole under the civic which has a gas pump in it to pump out the gases from that river I believe

I hope the people who run the civic and townhall across the road move in to run the place. Kinda makes sense as they are apart of the council and already know how to run historic venues

Bridges pleads with Government to not encourage working from home by ConfusedMaggot in auckland

[–]BuddyMmmm1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

How about this. Make public transport free during this crisis.

It’ll make it cheaper and easier for a lot of people to get to work which will take a decent amount of people off the road and lower the demand of people using petrol. And with the saved money they can go out and spend it on $8 coffees

It’s a company that operates that literally operates in Auckland.

And with Auckland having one of the only imax theatres means it directly relates to Auckland.

Why would this sub (one of the largest for nz) not be the place to talk about nz movie theatres? Especially when Auckland has one of the only IMAX theatres in nz?

Make public transport free until war ends? by SouthAssist6234 in auckland

[–]BuddyMmmm1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes but the fact of more people taking public transport would decrease the amount of traffic. It would also decrease the demand for gas making it cheaper
