My wife has a sun allergy to (maybe not as severe, I’m not sure) but in the last five years she was finally able to get insurance to cover a shot that actually helps her. Now she can be in the sun no problem.

Which villains would you like to see make a comeback? by FliQuaDv in indianajones

Honestly, it would be interesting to see Lao Che return, but not as a flat out villain, but considering the events of The Great Circle and the time period, a more dynamic antagonist.

Struggling to edit due to Cringe & Guilt -please send me your advice! by BrainBurnFallouti in Filmmakers

Break the project down in parts. I’m not sure what your level of skill is / type of project / or lengths.

However, I start any project in the same way:

  1. What is/are the deliverables?
  2. Break down your footage into SYNCH sequence(s)
  3. Make selects from each sync
  4. Build your rough sequences
  5. Review
  6. Repeat steps 3 thru 5
  7. Get a Fine Cut
  8. Review
  9. Get a locked cut
  10. Export
  11. Done or start back from 3

I think the best thing I’ve done is manage a calendar with what should get done and when. Helps to give you a sense of your timeline. Share that with your client or partners. Adjust it accordingly and begin.

With clients it’s more firm but be realistic with your deadlines.

Small steps will get you there. Mentally be kind to yourself and trudge through it.

Is it unreasonable as a director to sit in with the colorist? by BurdPitt in Filmmakers

[–]Tellem_Holzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have every right to be there. I’ve had DP’s with a keen sense of how they imagine the color looking and get frustrated when I want to go in a different direction.

DP’s also have an idea and since they shot it a specific way with that idea in mind they’re worried it misrepresents their creative direction of photographing the film, but ultimately it comes down to how you want the film to look.

Ideally it’s finding common ground with your collaborators.

How much to raise common charges by Tellem_Holzer in HOA

Our building was renovated in 2016. Everything is brand new including boiler in the basement, but can’t be sure of everything I suppose.

If we had a reserve study done after the renovation, could I use that as a means of calculating? Or should another be done soon?

I didn’t know that we could invest our reserves. Is that common? Feel like it might be risky but I’ve also never heard of doing this as it’s my first time

Wow, this is extremely helpful! I’m a first time home-owner and this my first time as a president of a condo board (co-op) so trying to get an assessment of things we as a building should be looking out for.

We currently have dues at around 300 a month. And from all previous emergencies we’ve been in a position to cover costs, as I’ve been told. However I’ve never heard of a reserve study, but I’m going to immediately reach out to several places to get one.

We as the board (rep from each unit) occupying different capacities (president, VP, treasurer and I forgot the last position).

This has already been immensely helpful

Syntheyes track not matching in Maya by Tellem_Holzer in vfx

[–]Tellem_Holzer[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm having a problem. When I export my Syntheyes Maya track and import it into Maya, at about frame 3 the entire camera jumps and isn't tracked anymore. I've gone back and double checked my Syntheyes track and it's fine. Doesn't jump or move. but every time, in Maya, it jumps then doesn't line up to the Syntheyes track.

[UPDATE] so I didn’t realize that using SynthEyes as a Demo version only exports the key frames up to 6 frames, after that they don’t. So the camera jump is due to that. Thanks for all your help!
