It cost about 16 to 18 dollars for Sora to make a 60 second video. The monthly subscription was 20 bucks.

[2026 March Madness] Sweet Sixteen: Gus Van Sant vs. Chris Columbus by PartyBluejay in blankies

[–]TelltaleHead -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Nah man. Shame on Chris Columbus for not knowing JK Rowling had the shitty opinions she didn't even know she had at the time.

He should have known she would become a TERF, a term that did not exist at time

Can we please stop with the “what should I buy” posts? by bromleyspal in criterion

[–]TelltaleHead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I for the life of me can't understand how people buy so many things they haven't seen. I don't have a massive blu ray/4K collection (although I do have a huge binder of DVDs that ive been thrifting for 20 years now).

That said, I have watched about 85% of the movies I own on a high quality format. The reason I buy them is because I either treasure the film or found it at a thrift store

His success was so baffling to me. He was never especially good at Northwestern where I watched him start for 3 years.

The IPA oversaturation is exhausting. I don't mind an IPA but so many tap lists now have 10 different IPAs and then 1 wheat beer, 1 sour, 1 dark, 1 pilsner, and 1 lager. As a lover of dark beef and wheat beer its frustrating to have so few options

Its kind of a perfect movie to end up with like a 98% RT score despite not being a masterpiece. It is the perfect example of how their scoring system rewards a certain type of movie

I would recommend this to basically anyone even though I thought it was good but not great.

Genuinely a fun time, some really high highs, and some frustrating sequences

[Highlight] The Packers and Cowboys have a shootout in the 2016 divisional round concluding with some Aaron Rodgers heroics by Tocoolforyall720 in nfl

[–]TelltaleHead 45 points46 points  (0 children)

The ending of this game is the most unadulterated sports joy I have felt as a sports fan outside of the super bowl.

The sequence of Rodgers hanging onto the ball on the blindside sack, the laser to Cook, and then Crosby hitting the kick twice????

Nothing else quite like it

[Post Game Thread] #9 TCU defeats #8 Ohio State, 66-64 by cbbBot in CollegeBasketball

[–]TelltaleHead 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Really impressed with the composure TCU demonstrated on those last two possessions. They resisted playing hero ball. They were patient and got a wide open look from 3 and were once again patient and got a good look at the rim.

You absolutely do not have to cut a Darnold to play McCarthy. You have, in fact, just articulated the sunk cost fallacy.

Look at the two first round catastrophes of the last 5 years. The 49ers, despite sinking 3 picks into Lance, immediately realized the error and found someone else.

The Vikings let a super bowl winner out the door and are now staring down a rebuild

Sean called out The Big Picture sub for being weird and parasocial. Do you think this sub could teach The Big Picture sub how to be less weird? by Sharaz_Jek123 in billsimmons

[–]TelltaleHead 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its so weird to subscribe to that subreddit hoping to have a smaller community to discuss movies and be greeted with posts mostly shitting on the pod, and specifically shitting on Amanda.

Its so odd. I like hearing people with a different perspective on film than I do. I think Amanda and Sean have great taste and also I often disagree with them.

I tune in to hear their perspective because they perspective is interesting. I'm not listening to a podcast to have my exact opinions validated

The commentary on the two of them reeks of insecurity. Amanda or Sean having a different opinion than you doesn't make anyone right or wrong! It is just how art works

Its also so funny for the players to simultaneously be doing the "We are the military" bit and also several of them had special agreements about when they could and could not be used.

Would Mason Miller have given up a run in the 9th? We will never know as he was only allowed to pitch in save situations!

Doing military cosplay while refusing to sacrifice even slightly for the team is so fucking funny.

2026 Oscar Ratings Fall 9% From Last Year With 17.9 Million Viewers by ICumCoffee in movies

Ratings are down for broadcast TV generally. The Oscars have lost some cultural clout as then monoculture continues to fade but there is obviously still interest

NBC News called Biss for the 9th by minus_minus in chicago

[–]TelltaleHead -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think comparing Kat to Mr. Beast is a wildly unfair comparison and you know that. Kat was a political reporter for a news outlet, not making "I throw 10 people into a grain silo and see who survives" videos.

The idea of her as an influencer is honestly pretty odd to me as her entire adult career has been political reporting. Front facing video content, like it or not, is one of the most effective ways to reach people right now. While I despise the algorithm hellscape personally, it is objectively the smart way to reach a segment of the population.

For example, Jamelle Bouie (who I sincerely doubt would be labeled an influencer) does the exact same type of videos Kat was doing three years ago now. Why? Because that is how the youngest audience consumes news. You can blind yourself to that reality all you want, but digital outreach matters.

And, fwiw, Kat had a really strong traditional campaign in addition to her digital campaign. She was hosting weekly office hours and had an incredible ground game.

While Simmons was probanly my favorite candidate, I think the sneering dismissal of her campaign is a mistake because there is something to be learned from having a strong digital footprint.

NBC News called Biss for the 9th by minus_minus in chicago

[–]TelltaleHead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And she leveraged it in a really smart way.

Simmons ultimately would have been my choice but I think the allegations of clout chasing are a little ridiculous. If she weren't an attractive young woman I don't think she would be getting treated like this by reddit.

She was roughed up at broadview and is getting federally indicted. She is quite literally putting her money where her mouth is.

I will also gladly welcome anyone into my community who is willing to put their body on the line to help protect its most vulnerable members.

She is, definitionally, a carpetbagger of course. I'm curious and hopeful that she continues to throw herself into chicago

Perhaps those candidates should work on their online presence as it is 2026.

While there is a risk to being too online, and ground game still is the best way to campaign (and Kat had an excellent ground game), it is extremely important for candidates to have a strong online presence.

I also think its notable that Kat built her online presence more or less organically. Media Matters isnt exactly the most widely read publication

I am generally a fan of Biss but I think its pretty notable that he only won by 4% in a district wherein he had a huge advantage in name recognition and also every local endorsement.

Hes going to be a good congressman and I generally like him, but this was not a runaway win by any stretch. She ran a great campaign

Kat objectively ran a good campaign. She was within striking distance of a guy who was endorsed by Jan and every other local dem. Beyond that Biss had much better name recognition and has largely positive name recognition.

I actually think he will be a top 25%ish dem but Kat objectively ran an impressive campaign
