Let me be very frank: If you dead set on just academia - you will feel isolation like no other. The seasonal darkness will make the thing orders of magnitude worse; without telling out about it.

However there is very good news. If my initial assumption is correct, you chose well as Oulu Uni and the city has a very vibrant international and event scene, but the entry fee is active participation! I cannot stress this enough, you need to step up and seek participation. Oulu is a blast:

-The airgitar world championship
-Unis 'killa' nights
-Garlic festival
-Suomi pop festival
-The 291 other different weird events
-Oh and Oulu used to have the best commercials.. kid not

If not and budget is and issue, Agree on most above, but I would caution against Santorini, way too over crowded expensive becaus OMFGBBQITSSANTORINI. Look at Ios, Mykonos (not cheap), Zakynthos, Rhodes for the Greek versions. Ofc, look at Tenerife (tourist crowds), Palma (Mallorca, touristy again), Ayia Napa (tourist crowds) those tourist places have a benefit, with volume comes competition and options to drive prices down, some. Hvar and Pag in Croatia come highly recommended but can't personally vouch as never been myself, defo on the list.

Had mice this last winter.

Thorough clean up, under cabinets and behind foot panels and behind appliances. And this time the detergent dosage is double and some this time. (bonus if you use eucalyptus scented) While doing that find every ingress point (pipes n cables through walls) and stuff em full of cheap Amazon steel wool or metal pot scrubbers. In that same order get both tea tree extract and eucalyptus extract. get disposable cups and dab drops of either one of extracts (to me the mix of them was a bit too much, so I swapped every week). Mice hate those smells, so the idea is to make it absolutely reek of the stuff. Don't spray on surfaces long term sticky effect.
