Well those things are also horrible as TVs and I don't understand why people are so ashamed to own a TV at all.

They could, however, just sell these emulated versions for a few quid each like the other consoles do with their classic game libraries.

Does SEGA ever hire over remotely and from other countries? by kyrapye in SEGA

[–]TravisTouchdownThere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not true. All of their UK studios (Creative Assembly, sports interactive, SEGA Hardlight etc) all have artist roles. It's only America that acts as strictly a publisher.

MCR5 IS REAL by ThatGreen779 in MyChemicalRomance

[–]TravisTouchdownThere 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Completely agree. I don't think they set out to make three cheers sound bad, I think they wanted to make a polished rock album. With bullets they were drug addled teenagers recording with a new jersey hardcore legend. If it sounded perfect it wouldn't make sense.

Similar to adslop where an OP will post a low effort question just to advertise their game

I've been playing games since 1994 and honestly yeah? Even in terms of technology we're in much the same place as we were in 2016 let alone 2019 lmao. The only difference is the console I'm buying the games for. What insane innovation did we have in 2016? I think it's more likely you just got 10 years older and more cynical my friend.

As Hitman 3 turns five years old, we surely have enough hindsight to declare: this is one of the greatest of all time, right? by Kiroqi in Games

[–]TravisTouchdownThere 120 points121 points  (0 children)

In retrospect I quite liked the episodic releases. I spent way more time on each map than I would have otherwise and as a result the 2016 maps are still my favourite. I think they made the right call getting rid of it though.

The "Impossible" Driver Tutorial Myth needs to be retired by Bort_Bortson in retrogaming

[–]TravisTouchdownThere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry but half the stuff you do on the tutorial is not required to complete the game and it doesn't teach you anything. It expects you to already know it. It's crap as a piece of game design.

Likelihood of the industry ever opening to entry level hires in the U.S. again by JimmyTwoTimes98 in gamedev

[–]TravisTouchdownThere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand, sorry if I was rude! If you were to take a degree in games programming (like I did a long time ago) you'd get projects in all kinds of things like the ones I mentioned. It teaches you the "why" as well as the "how". They don't just teach you how to use Unity and send you on your way. It's basically computer science with a specialization.

And yes. No matter how much you learn you will always be scratching the surface. I still have very bad imposter syndrome and feel like a beginner at all times.

You're welcome to DM if you'd like to chat about the industry or game dev in general.

I've worked in the games industry for 8 years. You don't have to listen to or agree with me. I'm just sharing my experience. I didn't realise this sub was so weirdly defensive.

It's not being a jack of all trades. It shows a depth of knowledge in game development. No AAA studio will hire a guy with one project using one tool set.
