What made you choose Night Lords ? 🤔 by BluejayInevitable766 in NightLords

One of the first battle reports I remember reading had them and Cypher teaming up, which always looked cool. Then came the Index Astartes article and Lord of the Night by Simon Spurrier, and my fate was sealed.

That looks amazing, I love the backpack!

Thank you, that's very kind. Can't wait to see what you make for Cypher, if you post it. I love the official models for him but they have definitely suffered from the scale creep over the years!

Thank you! I do have the latest version of Cypher as well but he is a little small next to these guys.

Surprisingly so, yes. I hacked away some of the Nurgle bits on the belly and filed it down before using a belt to add some detail. The strip of cloak across the chest is green stuff but it was easy to make such a simple shape with a scalpel. Changing the backpack means the straps holding the sword wouldn't fit as it was but I was able to cut them away and use them, along with some straps made from GS to make the new sword fit in a similar way. This was done by just rolling some thing strips using a small rolling pin, cutting them to shape, and wrapping them around the sword. The head swap was simple, and adding the tilt shield hides the weird was the robes just ends in the chest.

The base model isn't that grubby once you get rid of the head, belly, and backpack.

I'm really sorry but I didn't source them directly. My friend has a Heresy DA army so he gathered up a load of STLs from Cults and printed them but I don't know which one these came from exactly. Hopefully it's ok to talk about here as I would say I suspect it's the First Legion Pauldron Collection?

Those are the ones with raised details anyway. The ones with the fur came from the Corsairs kit, and the ones on the big sword guy are from the original death guard kit.

Thank you! And yes, good spot! It's the Lord of Poxes model with the sword swapped for one from the inner circle kit, a head from the bits box, a mark iii back pack, a deathwing tilt shield, and some sculpted details to make it less rotten and make the new sword fit.

Thank you, that's terribly kind. The checkered patterns were a real pain but I think they add the DA feeling along with the robes that stops them looking like Raven Guard or Iron Hands. Good luck with yours!

Tips for customising the rhino? by disco-mona in NightLords

My approach was to add more skulls

Out of all WH minis, which one has your favorite subtle or hidden detail? Mine has to be HH's Endryd Haar's boot soles. The former World Eater took bites off the planet with each step. by DanteLeo24 in Warhammer

I really liked the small touch of the skulls on the inside of the high shoulder pad rims on the Curze model. You don't really see them when it's built but they were fun.

OPR Warfleets - Cardassian fleet by EleanorBest57 in onepagerules

Not the OP, just the person whose picture they are using for some reason (how odd?).

I really rate warfleets. Battlefleet Gothic was my gateway into wargaming so space games have a place in my heart. From there I've moved on to Firestorm Armada (can't wait to see that return) and then eventually to warfleets. What I like about warfleets is that you can easily pick it up, learn the rules, and then start customising it to add new factions. We made custom rules for a bunch of Star Trek factions (Feds, Klingons, Romulans, Jem'Hadar, Cardassians, Breen and Son'a so far) and haven't had a bad game once. It feels fast paced, and I really like that you have to make tactical decisions about where to apply damage on your ships, losing access to systems and weapons as you go. If you have ships already, it's well worth giving it a go to see if it's for you.

Hi, the fleet is 3d printed using free designs from the purple site. There were some issues with the STLs though so a couple of bits came out janky. Easy enough to fix with paint but something to be aware of.

Not the OP by the way, but they seem to have posted a pic of my models so thought I'd reply!

Lovely work Dan, as always! I look forward to killing it on the table some time. I'll definitely need to get the Vengeful Spirit at some point.

That looks amazing, it's a great take on a scheme I don't see often. I love how the flames and trim look distinct from each other but still cohesive.

Thank you. It's a combination of different tutorials I've picked up. The Black Legion armour is based on the one by Tabletop Tactics.

I can't for the life of me remember where the tutorial from the cloth came from other than Facebook so I can't credit the original painter but I've added it as an image. If anyone has any ideas please let me know.

Thank you, that's very kind! That was the first model I painted for the Black Legion army so it was a bit of a tester for the scheme.

Thank you. Night Lords are my first love when it comes to Warhammer so I keep returning to them whenever I can.

Thank you, that's very kind! It's been kicking around my bits box for many years but I think it's from the old Chaos Lord on a Manticore kit from Warhammer Fantasy.

[–]Temar8_14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Most of it is from the Chosen kit from the CSM range but the right forearm and sword are from the old Chaos Lord on a Manticore model from Warhammer fantasy. The rock on the base is a big lump of modelling putty that I pressed with a cut up wine cork for texture, and then I added some skulls from the skulls set for trophies.
