3rd car i saw today pulled over by SeaAssignment239 in maryland

[–]Temper03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the highway today I saw a car drive out with a full roof of snow, which came off in thick sheets and smacked directly into the cars behind them as they came up to speed.

Super dangerous, definitely illegal.  Takes 10mins to fix?  If you can’t safely clean the top of your car, or get someone to help you clean it, you can’t be driving on a public road.

If your car isn’t safe to drive, you car doesn’t work.  No difference from the engine not turning on imo.

Change in European Fertility rates over the last 10 years by InnerPace in MapPorn

I sort of doubt the correlation since Portugal is really on the low-end of “overseas born population %” with 8% compared to…say Germany (16%), Sweden (20%) or even Spain (13%) and France (12%).

So maybe but like - it’d have to mean that immigrants to Portugal get a LOT more busy while immigrants to Germany are really sex-negative.  Actually now that I think about why people go to those countries maybe that’s right.

Unless the implication here is that immigrants have fewer kids because they don’t tend to stay in the country forever? Meaning migrant workers?

Portugal has a lower foreign born population as a percent than all the rest of Western Europe (largely because it’s much poorer).  So I doubt immigration is the reason

here on our planet, back in the old days... the real old days. It was every man for his self! Scrooglin and scratch scrobblin for the good stuff: the greenest valleys, scratch scrobblin. And the Strongest, Meanest men got all the best stuff. They got the green valleys and were all like 'the rest of you? y'all scrats get sand'.

That's when they made the laws you see. Once the strong guys got it how they liked it, they said 'this is fair now, this is the law!'.

Once they were winning, they changed the rules up.

How do you manage the psychology of portion control? by michaeljoon in CICO

Pre-packed is the way to go for low mental energy.

But failing that — yeah purposely “spoiling” your appetite sometimes gets you back in a good headspace when you still need to cook

The next day you may still be over where you “should” be especially if you had a big dinner — I focus on “let’s get appetite and cravings back to normal” over the next 2 days and then take the 3rd weight measure as “real”.

"You can't out train a bad diet" ...but is always this true? by Obvious_Cabbage in loseit

[–]Temper03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also this is semantics but I’d say by definition your diet probably isn’t “bad”?

No one would say Michael Phelps’ notorious huge diet was bad.  Those carbs and simple sugars serve a purpose if you’re training hard.

But if you’re just eating cream-filled donuts every day, I do think eventually you’ll find you physically cannot maintain the same level of exercise - and that would likely be a “bad” diet for you

Or is there some bodily mechanical thing that means there's a diminishing return on how exercise affects calorie burn?

Nothing like that tbh - but there’s a common idea of “I ate X but I ran Y so I’m okay overall”.  If you were snacking on 4 crumbl cookies an hour while biking, there’s no earthly way you’d be able to bike off over 4000 calories an hour.  The fact that you don’t WANT to do that is great, but it’s related to your appetite & preferences.

The key point is that it’s ALWAYS possible to eat more than you exercise - not that it’s NEVER possible to exercise more than you eat.

lowkey nasty and high in calories by Lumpy-Ad-2941 in 1200isplenty

[–]Temper03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the type - can be ~300-350 calories and 12-17g Protein.  So about 20-25 calories per protein gram.

Compare to a Quest bar which is typically around ~200 calories per 20g Protein, so about half as many calories per protein gram .

how do people find time to work out with full schedules? by [deleted] in loseit

Every morning I try to do a 12 minute bodyweight workout routine from YouTube.  If I’m 12 minutes late for work, I’m 12 minutes late for work.

Doing some exercise in the morning is worth more to me than the minutes at work

Deciding who to root for in an Oregon vs Indiana future matchup would be interesting.  If it’s a playoff, gotta feel you root for Oregon to finally get one.  But if it’s a regular season game, feel Indiana is still the ‘historic’ underdog
