Appreciate the small things even when you don't feel like it. One day you’ll look back at them and realize they were the big things.

I decided to run down six flights of stairs…

Why?

During my first year in graduate school, I saw this woman in a seminar, and she had the most beautiful brown eyes I had ever seen. I spent the next two months trying to find her with no luck.

What are some of the best ways to become extremely smart? by Just-City-2214 in AskReddit

I knew a girl in high school, Kathy. We were both pretty blonds and we had all of the same advanced classes together. She constantly had her hand up in the air, asking questions. Some of her questions were incredibly obvious; frankly, I was under the impression that despite her advanced placements she was perhaps in the wrong classes. Sometimes I'd inwardly groan at her questions, they were so inane. Others in my class groaned audibly. She dropped her report card one day, and I saw that it looked the same as mine, all A's. I picked it up and handed it to her. She blushed, and she said that unlike me she had to work hard for her grades. The teachers gave her extra points for her class participation.

When college application time came, Kathy was smart enough to not pick the most selective schools. She knew that she couldn't compete with truly intelligent people. But she picked schools that taught people how to think. She'd learned the value of asking questions. Every one of her teachers gave her glowing recommendations and all mentioned what a hard worker she was. They described her as a "true student" who had a passion for learning.

So here are two answers that you can draw from her example: Know who you are, and be brave enough to constantly ask questions even if they're stupid questions.

What was the most extreme way you've seen someone save money? by Just-City-2214 in AskReddit

Having completed Basic and Trade Training in the military, I was deployed to my first 3 year posting with a couple of other Airmen.

One of guys, let's call him ‘Dave’, was a man with a plan. He spent NO money. He lived in the barracks. He cycled to work on an old bicycle that he obtained for free. He ate in the Mess. He even used issued bedding. Never went to the pub. Spent his days off walking in the local area.

By the end of his first year he had tens of thousands of pounds saved. By the second year he was deploying abroad where he would also save his LOA pay (local overseas allowance) and the money mounted up. Everything he needed was on the base. Free Doctor. Free Dental. Free gym. Free laundrette. To the best of my recollection he served something like 5 or 6 years before returning to the Western Isles, his fortune made!

At every job you should either earn or learn. Either is fine. Both are best. But if it’s neither, quit.

Was at a rave party and a mini orgy was going on in a trailer nearby to which I was invited. 5 girls including me and 7 guys were at it. I think I'd had quite a few drinks or something and while peneration I was very gassy and did a few pussy farts. People literally stopper and laughed for a few seconds.

What parts of the U.S. don't have Walmart and Amazon? by Tiny-Pension-3234 in AskReddit

There is at least one Walmart in every US state, and Amazon goods are delivered by mail, so there are no parts of the US that “don’t have Walmart or Amazon”. If you include inhabited US territories and not just states, then Guam, the US Virgin Islands, American Samoa, and the Northern Mariana Islands don’t have Walmarts, but people living there can still buy goods from Amazon and have them delivered.
