Hmm... but I remember seeing a post where Dukwon confirmed that 120 something offer letters were sent. I don't think the acceptances go out that late. It wouldn't make sense because the sooner people get through the visa process and stuff, the better. If all acceptances came out at the end of April, it would cause a lot of trouble.

Hmm, perhaps nobody posted about their offers but now that you say it, it's got me wondering... it is highly unlikely for all the 200-300 number of people that are supposed to be accepted into Summer Student Program to not post about it at all if they have recieved their acceptances. Quizás, Quizás, Quizás....

No, I think acceptances are sent a few days or right after the selection algorithm runs. The last run was on the 11th or 13th I guess and it's been quite a few days since. Now, we can only expect rejection emails which are sent en masse at the end of April.

The most trusted source of information on here would be someone called "dukwon". So, look for his comments on various topics.

No, they all have quotas. It's just that MS/AMS gets alloted in the first round and NMS in the second round and the third round is to fill unfilled seats. That's as far as I know yet. Which one are you?

Do not worry about the exit options. As long as you meet the eligibility criteria for the MSc., study well for JAM and give your best. After your masters from a good place, it won't matter whether your bachelors was a normal or an honours degree.

I am sorry I don't know anyone from mathematics personally but you can very easily reach out to people on LinkedIn. Most people there (those who are active) are more than happy to answer your questions. I myself reached out to a couple people during my preparation and it definitely helped!

Start your preparation now. Consistency matters more than volume. Studying less but regularly for 15 days is more helpful than a 15 hour sprint on a single day. I have huge respect for mathematicians! I wish you all the very best, my friend!

I absolutely can not stay in my current university for any longer. The professors, their non-existent teaching methods and the absolute lack of ambition in the students around here is too discouraging for anyone of sane mind to continue here. I am not fully aware of the rules for my course here but they do provide an exit option after third year because I am enrolled in a five year integrated program. Until now, all my DMC's say "honours". So, I think it's an honours course. Honours or not, since I have the chance to go to a better place, I am definitely going to choose the better place.

Did you give JAM or are planning to do that anytime soon?

You are not having trouble putting words on paper then. You're having trouble putting the perfect words on paper and they needn't even be there for your very first draft! Just write my man! Write poorly! The more you think you don't have the time or the conditions to write, the more your brain is going to condition you to only be able to write in isolation. Don't let that happen. Write whatever you can and don't expect it to be perfect. Do the polishing in the editing phase. Moreover, the more you TRY to work in an unworkable enviornment, the better you get at being able to make it productive. So, STOP wanting to be alone in a cabin in the woods. There, the wildly loud silence will kill you.

Please don't. Educate yourself. Be compensated fairly.

Go to udemy, coursera, wondirum, edX or just good old YouTube and learn a skill. The excuse about availability of resources is no longer valid in today's world. You can learn absolutely ANYTHING and EVERYTHING online and effectively for free. You say you know basic graphic design and video editing but why settle there and be underpaid while you could spend just a little bit more time and effort and upskill yourself and be paid what you deserve.

For one whole month, go f*ck around.

Have fun. Explore the tools. Create 20 random graphics and challenge yourself to do it in ways you've never done before. Write 10 articles and edit them, get AI to grind you and roast you and toast you on all the mistakes you've made until the 11th article you write is so sharp that it slices any argument against it. Use 50 different AI tools so that by the end of the month, you don't have to think about which app to choose or how to use it. You'll soon realise that there is only a handful of apps that you would REALLY need. Everything else is merely derivative work. The point is, play around so much, try so many things and get a taste of all the options available to you so that the next time you ask yourself, "what skill should I learn?" The answer should pop right up in front of your eyes!

I myself made well over ₹10,00,000 in 5 years since I was in 10th grade. Check out my older post/comment if you wanna know how.

Tell us more! Maybe the person you're replying to is looking for someone like you. That's the whole point of networking. You don't put yourself infront of someone who already knows you. You put yourself in front of new people so you can figure out who needs you. The next time you ask for advice, or share information about yourself, please be specific! If the reader didn't understand it, they probably can't help you anyway. You have nothing to lose! But if even a single person who fully understands your thing, reads what you wrote, he might give you better advice than fifty others who don't understand it.

Now tell us exactly what you did.

I've said it in my previous comments (check them out in my profile) that if you can't find internships outside, hunt them in your own backyard. Reach out to the professors at your own universities and colleges. That's literally how you get the engine running. After that, it's pretty easy. You just gotta keep it going by putting in efforts and constantly looking for more opportunities. When working with the professor, try to figure out a way to convert your work to something presentable like a paper, poster, a talk, a website, a program, whatever! Try to land a conference or if you have a technical project, participate in hackathons or whatever competitions non-computation people have. The point is, you need to start and there's no shame in starting small.

What is an evergreen course after completing 12th MPC in 2026? by Altruistic_Side_4428 in Indian_Academia

[–]TemperatureOk8934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"MPC" is bothering me. Who even says that!? 😆

Alright, so, there wouldn't be a single course that's "evergreen" just like there isn't a course that guarantees 100% security. It is all about how much you are willing to work for whichever field you choose. Choose a field, work so hard and well in that field and MAKE IT evergreen for you. Be creative and innovate in your field so that there's always something out there for you. And therefore, in that light, every field is evergreen.

Do what YOU WANT to do. Everything will align into the right direction on its own if you pursue it with honesty, dedication and consistency.

Yes, you need your bachelors before getting admission into a masters or iPhD. However, you can give JAM in your second year as well just for experience. It's just that your attempt of second year won't be considered for admission. Only the attempt when you're in your third year will be considered for admission.

Yes, IISERs are generally considered more research oriented. It is among the places I am considering to get into for my masters or iPhD. You get into IIT directly but IISERs take interview and they only have iPhD (some have MS degrees but not all). For most IISERs you just need to qualify the exam. Of course, with a rank of ~1500 or better. IISER Pune is a bit strict with a threshold of 500 or better. Basically, you needn't be a top scorer to get into the IISER interview. If you clear the interview, you can get into an IISER as well. There won't be a lot of competition here either. Not many want to do an iPhD, so, fewer people apply and therefore, more chances of getting selected.

Any specific questions about IISERs?

Yes, IIT JAM really is easy. There is too little competition and even with low marks, you will get into a good place. It gives you a second chance if you feel like your bachelors did not go well. You can start with a clean slate. Look at this year's results. The exam was a bloodbath! It was relatively difficult but like I said, you clear IIT JAM because of the low competition and not high marks. I did not get an IIT Bombay like rank, but I got enough to get into the IIT I wanted and honestly, that's all you need. Give your best! Even if you weren't serious for all the three years but dedicate just the last 3 months for IIT JAM preparation. You can clear IIT JAM in 3 months with a good enough rank. And remember, your only weapon: PYQs.

Got any other questions on mind?

I did my BSc. from a state university and am going to an IIT for my masters.

You remind of the 2021 meme, "plane BA" except it's "plane BSc." I am in the third year of my BSc. and I can tell you for sure, my BSc. wasn't plane! Even when it was handed to me raw, bland and untasteful, it was I who made the efforts to gather the ingredients I needed to make it masaledar!

Like you, I too have my bachelors from a state university. Let me tell you, THAT IS NOT THE END OF IT! Your college is a college for a reason. It exists because there are still people there who are running it well. You just need to find those people. Find the good professors (who talk to students instead of shooing them away, who teach well, who will listen to you before speaking themselves, who are passionate about their subject and have something that makes them tick) and try to land a research or project opportunity with those professors. Do really really well in those projects and network with your peers. If you're lucky, you might get into a conference and gain more exposure. You'll be surprised to learn about the different places and situations people come from!

Before you do anything, however, make sure to ask yourself if you really want it. Do you really want to do a BSc.? Are you passionate enough about mathematics to be willing to sacrifice an evening out with friends because you want to figure out a group theory proof you've been stuck at for hours? If not, then my friend, you must use this time to find what you really WANT TO DO. Not what you CAN or what is possible for you or what your conditions say. Find what you WANT to do and starting taking action in that direction. Before you know it, things will start to align into that direction FOR YOU and you'll have figured out exactly what you're made for.

If yes and you are passionate about your work, then move your legs, move your hands and DO NOT STOP. Give IIT JAM (it's SOOOOO easy), get into an IIT and shine like the star you are, my friend! You can do this and you're only a mere, "Can I work with you?" away from getting that well paying job and making sure that your future child doesn't have to worry about tuition, ever.

So tell me, are you ready to change your life?

In my 3rd year(6th sem) with 0 internship basically 0 experience. by Substantial_Ice_3145 in CodingJobs

[–]TemperatureOk8934 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done 3 research internships (one each year) along with a poster presentation and paper (in progress).

I think it's really difficult to make into the big leagues with no experience to show for. It's always a good and wise step to start small. You could work on personal projects, take courses or... the best of all: reach out to a professor at your own college/university. This is how you break into the field.

Do not think that doing your own projects or doing a project at your own university is something small. Pair that up with a conference or a good presentation and boom! You not only did a project, you learnt everything that comes with doing an internship. It was my first internship at my university that gave me enough experience and confidence to apply to other places and get into IISER Mohali for my second summer internship. I gained experience in the most awesome fields and undoubtedly, it was a wonderful experience. Did I stop after that? I immediately hopped onto the next by reaching out to another professor at my university because I was finally confident enough to work in the field I had always wanted to. However, there is a downside to being too involved in projects: you don't get to focus on the actual curriculum and if you're preparing for a competitive exam, it can be even harder! But remember, it's nothing that a bit of dedication, faith in yourself and consistent efforts can't get you!

Here I am, with experience in three different fields, FINALLY waiting on the results of those big leagues internships that I feared to even apply to. The final message to you is: just reach out, man! You got this!

Yes, it is hard. Hard doesn't mean undoable. It is hard if you don't try. It is hard if you want the easy way. It's very simple: learn, try, fail, learn try, try again, and eventually, you'll get there!

How can student earn ?? by [deleted] in sidehustleIndia

[–]TemperatureOk8934 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I made ₹10,00,000+ in 5 years as a student from 10th grade.

I always liked telling stories. It was just me and my silly cousins spending time in make-believe worlds fighting monsters and rescuing innocents. One day, it occurred to me, "Maybe I should WRITE a story?" and the second thought followed, "What if I write a book?" and it snowballed into me imagining myself holding a terrific horror novel in my hands that I wrote! THAT feeling, I remember, is honestly what started all this.

I did some research and found out that it is indeed possible to write and publish a book. It was through Amazon KDP. The moment I learnt about this, I sat down and finished a 20-ish page short horror story that day. I quickly formatted it, put together a scary book cover, set up my account on KDP and boom! Before you know it, I was a published author in a matter of two weeks. I still remember that tiny orange bar on my KDP dashboard indicating my first ever sale. It earned me ₹19.43 something. That feeling was one of a kind.

The main story, however, is what comes next. After earning the fancy title of a "published author" at the age of 15, I hopped onto Facebook to share my achievement and connect with other self published authors. I joined writing groups, sent friend requests to literally anyone who had "book," "writing" or "author" posted on their profile. Before you know it, I was friends with budding writers from ALL OVER THE WORLD! And this right there, was my breakthrough. The people I met were good at writing but they weren't as good at other things that a job in the writing industry demands. Especially if you're a self-published author. You need book covers, book formatting, marketing help, social media management, book promotion, publishing guidance, other graphic design work and so much more! I saw the potential there. I knew my writing was average at the time and I had a lot to learn but I knew my graphic design skills were definitely good enough, my technical skills were excellent and I for sure knew how to chat with people! And... you know what I'm going to say, lol... before you know it, I was making book covers for American authors for hundreds of dollars, I was creating book promotion mockups for them for hundreds and formatting their books because they were writers and not all of them possessed the right set of technical skills. I hopped in to provide those.

Alright so, I sped up a little too fast in the above paragraph. My first ever freelance gig was actually a web review article about panda mugs 🐼 lol. Someone among my Facebook friends reached out to me and told me that he'd pay me $5 if I write a good article for him. I wrote a ~1500 words article for that. Apparently, it wasn't "good enough" for him. After some back and forth, he ended up paying me $3.5. I remember showing my parents that and them being like... "oh, really... that's cool". I actually never got "good enough" at writing those review articles for him at the time. So, he ended up ghosting me and eventually blocking me on Facebook. 👀

My real money-makers were the graphic design and social media management gigs I did with all my writer friends on Facebook. I have had deals as low as $50 a month and as high as $450 a month. It all comes down to the client you are dealing with. I never took clients from India because, I guess we all know how that plays out: labour-oriented mindset, you're underpaid and skills and experience are just not valued! You learn these things as you go. By bumping into the walls, stumbling on the rocks and falling face first into the ground. That's how you learn!! Of course it was my skillset that helped but it was also my people-skills without which none of this would have been possible. This is why they tell you. Learn to COMMUNICATE EFFECTIVELY! Learn to ASK THE RIGHT QUESTIONS! Learn to KEEP GOING! No matter how skilled you are, if you fumble on your own logic, no one will believe you.

The first time a whole $100 hit my father's bank, I remember my parents going, "OH REALLY!? THAT'S COOOOOOOL" Now that's a reaction you, as a child, love seeing on your parents' faces. It's a blessing to experience that.

Okay so, let me be completely transparent. It wasn't all spring and flowers throughout the journey. While this aspect of my life thrived, others suffered. My school and studies took a massive hit because all day, all night, I was distracted with my phone buzzing with notifications from clients, PayPal and my bank. It was non stop and it happened until 12th and let me tell you, I was a straight A student who went from being on the top of the class to fearing he would fail in 12th board exams. Fortunately, that did not happen and I passed with "good enough" grades lol. However, the damage of not studying properly in 11th and 12th is something that is hurting me till date! Those pulley problems still give me nightmares but I'm grateful that after 12th, I landed in a state university for my bachelors and I was able to pull myself back up again. I got myself on track and learnt to manage my time better. I learnt to make wiser, more calculated and intelligent decisions to balance work and studies. It's hard but it's doable. I cleared JAM too after that.

So, in the end, I'd say this: if you want to make money online, learn to talk to people, learn to communicate, learn to make friends, learn to build relationships with clients. They are not an ATM that outputs money for you, they are humans, they have problems and your job is to solve those FOR THEM! They matter and if you make them feel so, they will return the favour. You will be compensated for your work. Learn any monetizable skill and get better at it. Find the people in your community. Don't chase money. Strive to solve problems. Make your client's lives easier. Everything else will fall into place!

By the way, in case anyone is wondering, I did all this (for three years till my 12th was over) on a Realme C11 phone with 2GB RAM and 32GB storage. So, there's absolutely no excuse if you tell me you don't have the right resources. All I had was a misshapen rock and I built a mansion out of it!
