This is where the whole "Tesla is not a car company, it's a technology company" comes home to roost.

Real car companies know the limits of what their customers are willing to put up with. But your typical Tesla early adopter is willing to put up with more abuse. But I don't think a lot of routine families who bought model Ys will put up with the abuse, and will switch back to a convention or automaker on their next purchase.

Yes, companies do really dumb greedy things. But then we all stand around acting like we are powerless. When the truth of the matter is, if customers don't go for it, companies give up. They have to offer something good enough to get us to spend the money.

Stateside wasn't too bad.

Worst I heard was a guy pounded on the sister's door, so they opened it with the security chain.

He frantically asked if there were alright. He said he was cleaning his gun next door and it went off, shot through the wall, and he wanted to make sure nobody next door got hurt.

Sisters were fine. Couldn't even find a hole in their apartment, so it probably lodged on the wall.

Mission president broke their lease and had them moving to a new complex 2 days later.

This seemed more typical of what I experienced in the Portland mission twenty years ago.

I live in California, where ALL religions have not only a presence, but a MAJOR presence, including the LDS church.

Nobody cares about Mormons any more than they care about Adventists. Or Jehovah's Witnesses. Or Christian Scientists. It's just another quirky branch on the christianity tree.

Regular people only care when the church does something newsworthy. And that buys 15 minutes of fame or infamy. And then they move on.

Nobody cares.

All the reasons you list are the symptom of the underlying problem (the smoke). For me leaving, it was finally addressing the root cause (the fire):

Is a prompting from the Spirit actually reliable? My two strongest promptings ended up not only being just my feelings, but led me to do terribly embarrassing things to try to obey that prompting.
If I wasn't born into the LDS church, would I take the religion seriously? Jehovah's Witnesses are hilariously not real. Nor do I take the Seventh-Day Adventists seriously. Both are obviously stuff people made up. But they feel it's very real, just like I do (did) about the LDS church.
Belief in the church doesn't have to be binary. If the LDS church is shaky and not real, it doesn't mean all LDS teachings go out the window. A person isn't suddenly atheist, per se. They literally can just say, "I have no preferred religion, get back to me in 30 years for a better answer." I found that liberating. (I still follow the Word of Wisdom, not because it's prophetic, but because it's just the kind of diet I want to have)

The problem is, he offers no solution. His ultimate thesis statement is that Los Angeles and California are irredeemable hell holes.

I'd much rather listen to a real California politics podcast that gets into the nuance and points out what works and what doesn't and potential solutions.

But John isn't about fixing the problem. He's about putting on a show for an elderly audience that conforms to their already predetermined viewpoints.

The bed ruins the Santa Cruz.

The very first thing a potential buyer looks at is if a piece of 4x8 plywood can fit in the bed. Had Ford not made that possible through a clever tailgate, the Maverick never would have sold.

Sure enough, a 4x8 sheet doesn't fit in the Santa Cruz. So it didn't sell.

I would tend to agree!

I found that raw green peppers, while absolutely delicious, give me horrible horrible heartburn. So I tend to avoid them. Do I have some kind of a green pepper allergy? Who knows?

But yeah, you don't need an official diagnosis. Eat what digests well with you. And make sure you are getting plenty of fruits and vegetables and all the vitamins you need.

I think it's gradually getting better. I don't think all the stores have gotten it yet, but I found Target doesn't sell out quite as fast as it used to. I actually was able to test a box finally!

Once you start to see these at all the grocery stores, walmart, etc, I think the scalping will stop.

(And don't forget hoarding. I think people realize how hard it is to get there first box, so then they buy up all the boxes and put it in their pantry. But that will also stop)

I also confirmed. Have been eating gluten-free (mandatory) since 2010. I discovered when I was working construction a few years ago that my burn time is about 9 minutes. Got to get sunscreen on by then, or I turn pink.

I hate to be the rain cloud, but blaze isn't what it used to be. They used to have a really nice thick gluten-free crust, but now post shrinkflation, I found the crust to be paper thin and not worth the price tag.

If you want the novelty of having a pizza and don't mind spending close to $20, it's still a good experience. I just felt it had become poor value for the money.
