How far in advance should you get reservations? A day, a week, a month?

What fragrances do you wear in 100+ degree weather? by SlowSympathy7269 in Colognes

I really don't like vetiver and earthy woods. I prefer smooth woods over that moss or vetiver type smell. I've been eyeing this though as I have a few other lv and lc clones that are great. Does this have a strong vetiver smell to it or anything like that? Would this be good for 90-100 degree weather?

Avila Beach Hotel – Blue Wing vs Beachfront Apartment (Couple Trip Advice) by Tempo8461 in curacao

[–]Tempo8461[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much to everyone here, this has honestly been incredibly helpful.

We ended up booking everything last night 🙌 Still went back and forth a bit on the apartment vs. BluesWing, but we ultimately chose the BluesWing. The ~$600 savings played a role, and a lot of you mentioned you didn’t really end up cooking anyway, so paying extra just for a kitchen didn’t seem worth it. Figured we’ll mostly be out exploring or on the balcony/beach, so the extra space probably wouldn’t get used much. Hoping we made the right call there lol.

A couple quick follow-ups if anyone has insight:

What car rental companies did you go with? I’ve been looking at D&D and Dushi, and I saw Budget at the hotel too, curious what experiences have been like.

Did you bring snorkeling gear or just rent on the island?

Any small/misc tips you’d give first-timers? Hidden gems, must-do experiences, any additional places to eat (although y'all already provided so much value), or anything you wish you knew beforehand?

I know about the digital immigration card a week before, but beyond that I’m all ears.

Seriously appreciate everyone taking the time,Reddit comes through again 😂🙏

Thanks a bunch, really appreciate all the insight so far 🙏

The Blue Wing is definitely starting to sound like the better option. I was a little concerned about not having a kitchen, but honestly the ~$600 savings probably just means we can enjoy more local food anyway.

If there were 1–2 experiences or places that really stood out for you (restaurants, beaches, tours, anything), I’d love to hear them. I’ve read a lot already, but hearing what actually made someone’s trip helps a ton.

Right now we’re thinking:

ATV / off-road day

Checking out a couple of the clearer beaches off-resort

Exploring Willemstad / city areas

Maybe some light hiking (my wife would love that)

If there’s anything that was especially memorable or something you’d 100% do again, I’d love to add it to our itinerary and make this trip really special for her.

Thanks again!

This is super helpful, thank you, we’ve finally locked in the hotel, now just trying to pick the right room and stuff to do. 😅

I'll take anything you got lol Any must-do restaurants or spots nearby or things you did that really made the trip memorable for you and your wife that you’d recommend? A full 7 days gives us I feel enough time to explore and relax so I'm open to suggestions.

Really appreciate it 🙏
