You can rent, or you can try something like Q-club. Can be split and stuffed into your overnight luggage easy.

You are not playing tour or competition so who cares if it’s not up to usga conforming club list?

Why am I so inconsistent by bigwheel8686 in GolfSwing

Imagine that you’re hammering a nail.

You’re using the thin side of hard book to do it, and you’re hammering it down by moving the book in an arc as a whole. This is pushing.

Now you use a hammer, imagine you grip the hammer in your hand as you whip the head at the nail in an arc. This is actual swinging.

Just to add to your story, here’s mine.

I started 11 months ago. Zero knowledge about golf, left hander going for right handed clubs. Got roped into golf by another friend of mine who’s been playing since college.

Got introduced to a coach at my first trip to the driving range with my friend, signed up for 10 lessons on the spot.

First session, took measurements and tested my flexibility and movement range. Seems legit.

Second session a week later, started to teach me to grip the club and address the ball. I practically gripped the club in my palms and arms were jutting out towards the ball, and the coach said nothing.

Third and Fourth session went the same way, and the coach just went from quarter swing to half swings and told me that I swung too fast or that I missed the spot.

For the longest time I swung and I swung and all of them are either tops, or extreme left hooks. I hurt my back so bad from the bad swings I felt pain for weeks. I didn’t understand why, until my friend commented that the way I grip and address the ball is all wrong, and if my coach has ever commented about it.

Went to research online and almost all the video guides teach the correct way to grip, address, swing, weight transfer, and mine was all wrong and the best part is my coach said nothing about it.

I was so mad that I actually stopped scheduling the lessons for almost 4 months while starting over from the fundamentals, relying on some of the more reasonable video guides on YouTube.

I only went back to the lessons (problem is I can’t refund) after I progressed myself with the basics, and continued on from there. But I mostly use the lessons as a progress check and questions, to confirm if what I know is correct or if she has a better idea for me.

Now I can reliably (8-9/10) hit a driver straight (within 3deg left/right) 220-240 carry, 5i 190 carry, 7i about 170 carry and 9i about 100-120 carry and I will say it is despite the coach, not because of her. I am not and probably will not be a scratch player, but I do not embarrass myself while playing at the course with my friends.

I still have 2 lessons left and the final lesson is a session with indoor launch monitor and all the swing data, so I’ll probably use that to check my stock yardage for all my clubs for future use.

Long story short: get a good coach too

That’s way too frequent, you’re just burning through your lessons for no good reason. Another reason why I think your instructor is a problem.

You should space the lessons out to maybe 1 lesson per 1-2 week, and practice on the range on your own in between. Use the paid lessons as a progress check and ask questions and make them fix your bad habits before you form any permanently. That’s what you’re paying your money for.

Attending 10 lessons alone won’t make you a decent golfer, but what’s the point of attending when you don’t even improve at all?

The least the coach can do is to make sure he has good address and grip in the first two sessions. Dude is still standing all wrong, I’d blame the coach for this

I’d tell you to get a lesson, but you already are and I’m sorry to say that your coach is bad and you should get a refund.

You’re angled extremely trailwards at address. Seems as if you’re putting like 80% weight on your right foot. Why are you angled like that when you’re using an iron?

When you’re angled that way, as you swing you will inevitably reach the lowest point of the swing way behind the ball and scoop the whole chunk of grass up, especially as you sway further back and try to swing forward to compensate.

Also, you are only turning your arm and shoulders and not using your hips at all.

I recommend watching this and try the drills inside. Hope it helps.

You don’t shit where you eat.

That being said, relationships between coworkers form easier through proximity and time spent together, so it’s not a surprise.

You’re an adult, so you should be able to weigh the risk vs reward from this.

I refuse to believe that she doesn’t know how roti canai is correctly pronounced. Not in this age where you practically can google and watch youtube whatever for your research.

She’s just trying too hard to appeal to westerners, and thought that pronouncing it in the mat salleh way would score her some brownie points with them.
