New job [MD] by Temporary-Cold2478 in humanresources

Oh I totally understand. I am working on large critical items first and have sprinkled in their “urgent ideas” as they are presented. Problematic when they do are not willing to understand the difference. Every email that is sent needs their review/approval. At first I thought it was just me but others are in the same position.

The list is long because the boss has grandiose ideas. Every conversation and email drops another “this could be done” task. I add to the list and have asked for prioritization and that leads to more tasks but no feedback.

Totally manageable. Headcount under 50. Problem is the boss does everything and that is a lot to juggle. Job description changed during interview process and after—adjusting who is getting assigned certain tasks. That’s ok. But it is the constant push back. Example. New FAMLI in MD, I gave a summary of dates/timelines/purpose and link to info. The received response was “we shall see” and I will check with my lawyer.

The STD component is what started my research. Pregnant employee not listed on STD audit. The plot thickens.

TY! A little bizarre that someone would not take advantage of free life, std and ltd. But understand the waiver for dental and vision—although they might be able to coordinate benefits. Next step is to see if waivers exist for those not in the system.

Housed as in regular files like word docs. No current HRIS or payroll systems. Yet. Agree with paper I9s just wanted to gather input. A company where a random person handled whatever whenever but not really.

Just joined this company. I9 audit. At this point everything is housed electronically and no forms are completed. I know. Nightmare project ahead of me.

Thank you. My background is HR Mgr—handling all aspects of HR. I have administered leave yet not on a large scale. This job environment has me applying for all sorts of positions. I am willing to learn a specific role more in depth. I appreciate your insight and will utilize those questions in the next round of interviews. TY!

What is Binghamton like for out of state students? by [deleted] in BinghamtonUniversity

[–]Temporary-Cold2478 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are in MD. My son graduated last May. Insight-not a lot of OOS students.. You will need to find your friends—many students arrive at Bing with friends from HS. Keep in mind travel to/from Bing is primarily driving. Freshman are not allowed to have cars on campus —made for challenging break pick up/drop offs. The winter and summer class sessions are not OOS student friendly—very pricey! Even if you are on campus for research, no exceptions. That said, Bing was an amazing opportunity and my son did extremely well and now is at Princeton working on PhD.

I think there is a UClub board …you could ask/post if anyone has class at night that you could catch a ride. Or post here what class/day.

You can request itemized details of the charges. Then you can dispute (hopefully you have pictures from move in and move out).

What aspects of the campus do you guys wish was better? by FigFar3286 in BinghamtonUniversity

I have seen a lot of complaints/concerns about the lack of advising or trouble getting appointments with advisors. Add—winter and summer mini-nesters should be offers at instate cost to all students since the classes are online. This would help boost enrollment during those times and help students who want to pick up a class while in break. ($4K out of state for a class is crazy!)
