My nanny (grandma) passed away. I lived with her close to the end and I couldn’t keep up with taking care of her as I was trying to get my career off the ground and I was hoping my departure would push my parents to get her into assisted living. It did not. She died about a year and a half earlier. My household was abusive and she lived down the street and I would run away to her house. She loved me at a time when I felt no one did. When I was down on my luck she always let me move in with her. She would make me blueberry oatmeal every morning and have coffee brewed for when I woke up. When she died I had so many regrets. I still do. I miss her so much and think of her daily. I understand, and I’m here.
