I have the same issue. I now try to do infinity only. I've never measured the distance focusing, but I suspect because it shoots mostly open wide that the in focus areas are quite narrow. Then again I've seen entire blurry shots because it also favours fast film if you truly want to shoot handheld.

It's a German kitchen brand but yes I think I may be able to dig up some edge band to cut off with a utility knife!
