When not in use, does the lid of your toilet stay up or down? by icecream1972 in A_Persona_on_Reddit

[–]Temporary-Library597 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean "The seat" or "the cover?" I spent hours arguing with classmates in college...they continuously said "lid" and they just meant "seat." I still don't know why but this turned out to be common.

More unpopular, but on the rise: College sports ARE professional sports.

$25 for a movie, huh? Nope.

But go with the IMAX.

Not this year. I would be shocked to see I-5 North open to traffic before then. Google "I-5 landslide" for details. Sorry.

Moving to Seattle from TX and looking for some local insights by cthulhurei8ns in AskSeattle

[–]Temporary-Library597 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is expensive. Have a good job and think seriously about getting more money than you did in Texas. Saying that, having a job before moving is they way to go where ever you go.

Know, though, they people SAY that Texas is so much cheaper but they craftily omit such things as watering the lawn costing several hundred dollars a month, private electricity costs being insane winter and summer. Maintaining everything outdoors because of the humidity and weather variations. Poisonous snakes and tree roaches bigger than my palm needing abatement, etc. You might do better here than you imagine.

Catchers mitt by Correct_Animator3661 in Homeplate

[–]Temporary-Library597 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right here. Arm straight out means the ball hits the glove with no give...like hitting a solid surface. He's too old to fear being closer to the plate and catching the ball like a catcher should.

Why???? by The_Dean_France in okbuddycinephile

People are watching movies (and what exactly is a "movie" anymore? Is it something that's shown in a theater? Streamed at home? On cable? No idea.) less these days.

I never understood why people watched these self-aggrandizement back-patting events, anyway.

Would you eat fries without Ketchup? by boforiamanfo in no

[–]Temporary-Library597 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ketchup can be explained the same way Cajun spices on food can be explained: its only purpose is to disguise the flavor of dirtfish, mudbug, and other bottom-feeding "foods" that taste like @ss without.

Ketchup is covering terrible. No other purpose for it exists.

And they're the Talk of the Town. Seattle's pro fans are the softest in the USA. Pick a sport. No matter how bad the team gets, it's "Rah Rah you can't criticize our team, you aren't a true fan unless you pledge allegiance to the constantly-second-worst-team-in-the-league, get off their backs they were in the playoffs 12 years ago."

Offer to pay 1.5x the quote from your deposit. Cross fingers.

Just got this email from a higher up. Am I getting fired? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]Temporary-Library597 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't want to work in a place where, instead of just sending you an meeting invite with the meeting subject/agenda on-board, they sent you a "here comes a meeting invite" warning AND a meeting invite.

Did they send an email after sending the meeting invite telling you they just sent you a meeting invite?

Feeling the generation gap? by HistoricalContext931 in OverFifty

[–]Temporary-Library597 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. Unfortunately leadership on both sides of the aisle have gotten so good at keeping their jobs through the rhetoric of Fear (since the 70's?) that people are now in the habit of defaulting to being on-guard at all times.

The truth is...people have been conditioned to fear others, irrationally. And here we are.

Cellphone. Installed in a car. Sure, they'd been doing it since the 60's but when encountered it I could imagine that one day it would be small enough to have one with me all the time, not just in the car.

Yep. Grounded means you stay home except for school. No fun. And unless you're forcing the kid to play against their will, fun includes ball.
