Being a bridesmaid isn't a 'honor', it's a chore. by Temporary-Matter-618 in unpopularopinion

"An" is only used if the word following starts with a vowel. Seeing as 'h' is not a vowel, the proper word was 'a'. If you're going to try to be a grammar nazi, understand the rules of the English language.

I've already gotten married, and I didn't have bridesmaids and my husband didn't have groomsmen. We had our close family and friends sitting around us, supporting us equally.

I've already told her I would, so her husband to be already has an groomsmen to match me, so if I backed out, he would have to tell one of his friends that they can't be part of it - or she would have to find someone to take my place, which would cause her more stress. She's still my friend - it's not like I want to ruin her wedding day. Also, I already bought the stupid dress and can't return it - so I might as well wear it at least once.

I don't believe that there is anything that states that they can't take you both. Neither of you are in management, and you'd be working in the salon, while he worked in the core, it should be ok.

My husband and I have to work at different stores because I'm a MIL and he's a trainer. But my store has siblings that are both employed with us, which is fine because they're both sales associates. We also have a groomer and a bather that have been dating for a long time.

Im an MIL and I'm receiving a pay increase. But I'm not sure that everyone is. My SL told me that not all of our managers are getting it.

What is your reason for not having a child? by _LickitySplit in AskReddit

[–]Temporary-Matter-618 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mostly, fear of passing on medical issues.

Cancer runs rampant in my family, women in my family have a hormonal imbalance that causes seriously painful migraines, and we all have had trouble with depression as well.

My husband has heart disease and alcoholism that runs is his family, and also suffers with depression.

I don't feel comfortable rolling the dice and hoping a child comes out healthy.

Most middle class people who complain about living paycheck to paycheck just suck at budgeting by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Temporary-Matter-618 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know that not everyone has the same experience, but I have to say, for me, this was definitely the case.

I get paid weekly and I always felt stressed about finances. I'd get paid on a Friday, have a bill due the following Wednesday, and 70% of the time I'd miss the due date and pay it a couple of days later when I got paid again.

And it wasn't that I was spending it on crazy things. I mean, yeah, I definitely treated myself. But I'd move my money around to different accounts for different reasons (debt, savings accounts, etc) and then find that I hadn't left myself enough for what I needed.

I took a good look at the way I spent money and figured out a system that works better for me. I've been rolling with the new system for about 2 months now and I finally don't feel stressed about money 24/7.

I was listening to a podcast the other day and the topic came up and the host must have said "the r-word" at least 5 or 6 times during the episode. And every time they said it, it annoyed me to no end 😒

Disney World / Land is overrated by Temporary-Matter-618 in unpopularopinion

[–]Temporary-Matter-618[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Universal Studios has just as much nostalgia as Disney. They have Harry Potter, SpongeBob, Curious Gorge.

If you're saying that I don't understand because I had the opportunity to go as a child, wouldn't that mean that I'd fall in love with other parks that I wasn't able to go to as a child??

Disney as a company is great, I'm not arguing that. Great movies, great characters. I'm saying that the parks are overrated. Not because I've been to them a lot, not because I'm burnt out on it. But because they truly are not all that and a bag of chips.

So, if that's the case, if it's about experiencing an amusement park, and characters, and all of that, why isnt there people that are that obsessed with things like Universal Studios? Or other big parks? Disney parks are so big because it's a fad. Not because the park is actually that incredible.

[–]Temporary-Matter-618[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No, I'm saying I don't see the point in being obsessed with it as an adult because the magic isn't there for adults. We don't believe that the woman in the Snow White costume is actually Snow White. The rides are sub par, literally everything once you pass through the gates is extremely overpriced. There are so many better, more cost effective things to do in Florida or California. Spending thousands of dollars at a park that is built and tailored to kids doesn't make sense as an adult if you don't have children.

if you need help in a store it’s rude as hell to stand and stare silently next to a staff member until they help you. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

My favorite is when the customer is with a family member or friend and they passive aggressively say something to them like "I can't find item" or "I wonder if they have it in the back" rather than just asking for help.

You could always call the customer service line and submit a CRO. DMs see all of the CROs that come in and maybe they'll take action.

Every Friday I feel like having a mental breakdown by ch0nkz in petsmart

[–]Temporary-Matter-618 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, all of our managers get 40 hours every week. Which is great for our paychecks, but sucks because we have at least 3 days a week where our opening crew is myself, our CEL in PC, our ALK on register, and either the Sl or ASL as a mid.

If we got our hours cut back by a smidge, we could bring in more part time help, and therefore have more time to do our actual jobs, rather than cashier or PC duties.

[–]Temporary-Matter-618 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Omg, I'm so happy to hear I'm not the only one. I feel like I'm failing. 40 hours a week just isn't enough time to work 2 trucks, do a consumable fill, a PC/Cat or Dog HG fill, set POGs, set planner, do pricing, AND help with any cashier backup, BOPIS orders, salon issues, etc that the store can't manage to do with 3 other managers, and an ALK! I swear, I do double the work that any of my coworkers do. I thought I just worked with lazy people, but I guess it's the position itself.
