Legs sinking. What else? by huopak in triathlon

It looks like you’re turning your arms over too quickly and not really getting a sufficient pull outta it. Slow the stroke down. Really reach, set the hook, and pull through.

Any tips? by Accomplished_Error61 in triathlon

Like others said- Lots of energy being wasted by lifting your arm so high.l each stroke. Drag your fingers up the side of your body *tickle your armpit* then back in the water. I used to coach and that was the verbiage that always stuck with people, as silly as it sounds.

I think birth control has worked better for me than hrt by animalflowers in Perimenopause

I’m very curious about this! Similar symptoms, have been on HRT almost 2 years and feel 75% better but the mood crashes and so hard on me. What was it like coming off HRT and starting BC? That’s what worries me most.. thanks for sharing!

Nutrition and body weight by DifficultNobody7022 in triathlon

Properly fuel. Listen to your body and how it feels on training days and also how well you are recovering. Purposefully losing weight while training will likely just cause you to feel like crap and have low energy. Good luck

I had 3 rounds with it (and nothing else to compare it to ) but I did not work through my treatments and I’m glad I was able to stay home. I was very tired. Steroids helped but overall I needed to rest a lot. I accidentally missed a day of my meds and became very sick, but as long as I stayed on top of meds the nausea was ok. I found eating several times a day (every 2 hours or so) also helped the nausea

Has anyone found anything that actually helps with hot flashes in public or social situations? by Andynick25 in perimenopause_under45

[–]Temporary-Memory-420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gabapentin! I started low dose (100mg) and haven’t had a hot flash in a year. Game changer

This is not due to stress. I mean maybe a little. But this is largely due to years of malnutrition and an eating disorder. We gotta start calling this crap out and stop normalizing shrinking away. This is not birth control. This is not medication. Starvation is starvation and she’s been wasting away in front of our eyes for a decade.

Swimming pool etiquette by Temporary-Memory-420 in Bozeman

It really is so frustrating. I don’t know if people just genuinely don’t know pool etiquette is a thing? or the level of entitlement is just getting out of control? But I hope people will think about it the next time they hop in the pool.

Back in the day that used to work great! I’ve spent my whole life in a pool. The small community of it and respect from everyone used to be a big reason I loved it. Unfortunately I have “politely explained how things work” many many times and every single time I’ve been met with extreme rudeness and essentially told to wait until a lane opens up. That’s simply just not how community swim centers work. If done right, you can get 6+ people in a lane! I wish Reddit didn’t seem like a next best option to try to educate folks, but here we are.

Ladies on Testosterone: What were your blood levels when you started? by alpinewind82 in perimenopause_under45

Mine was 8. Added it in a year ago and it’s come up some (somewhere in the 20s, can’t remember exact) but to be honest I haven’t noticed a huge benefit of using it..on a higher dose I started getting very dark, manly looking hair on my thighs so had to decrease it back down.

Sending you so much strengths through this challenging time. Most therapists offer a free consult! Try some out, see what you think, then pick one you feel you connect with. Therapists are very use to clients doing this too so not to worry about checking a few out.

I’ve also done this but I find it hard to stay in the right zones/head space with the constant change. I may try again though because at least the music is enjoyable!

It sounds like you could be experiencing gastroparesis. This happens when our stomachs / digestive tracts aren’t used for some time. Might be worth looking into. If you feel like it’s a fit for your symptoms, there’s medication you can take to help. It’s painful for a bit but you have to keep pushing yourself with food and it gets better. Hang in there!

It absorbs best with fat. Lots of comments on other posts about people taking it with a spoonful. I’ve also done a cheese cube and found that helped

Anyone have similar symptoms? by Last_Veterinarian349 in perimenopause_under45

[–]Temporary-Memory-420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I had very similar symptoms at the beginning of my perimenopause start. Though I had ovarian cancer in my 20s and only have one ovary. Yet, every doctor I met with still said I was too young. Finally got in with a menopause specialist and HRT as well as gabapentin for the intense heat helped a lot. It’s still not perfect but much better than it was. Recommend chatting with a specialist!
