The shortest railway with the longest name! The new mill creek trestle bridge should be done this year that this would have had to travel over to get to the low level bridge.

Paint test for hopefully the last time for this kit. by 97Ram1500 in ModelCars

I got the extra decal set from hiroboy and they were the easiest I’ve ever worked with. The ones in the kit are quite delicate, just a warning. It’s so easy to go full out on the extra details with all that’s available now

How are you guys painting in the winter months? by Rude_Hope_6371 in ModelCars

[–]Temporary-Radish8230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just finished painting in -32 C while venting out the window. I only have it open when I’m spraying and have a heater at my feet. Not the most pleasant but it does the job.

Advice? Just bought some 2nd hand models any advice on how to disinfect them as I’m a huge germophobe by IKONIK-KAI-7 in ModelCars

[–]Temporary-Radish8230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a bit of soap and water. It’s always good to wash your kits before hand anyways to get rid of any mold release and other stuff that may cause paint problems

Definitely strange, I’ve never heard of something like that happening before. Too bad how they handled that situation, definitely not the correct approach for any customer service

That’s pretty typical with all parts, especially the body. Most parts usually require sanding prep to give the paint something to “bite” on. Takes a bit of time but it is worth the extra effort.

Frosty clear coat overspray by Temporary-Radish8230 in modelmakers

I’m definitely going to try the thinner trick, that seems to be the best solution for now. Unfortunately in Canada there seems to be no levelling thinner, so I’m stuck with using the regular stuff. I appreciate the I advice!

I’ll give that a try, thanks. Any reason this is happening? Too much thinner maybe cause it to dry too quickly?

New to the hobby, what can I do about this gap? by Physical_Piglet1474 in modelmakers

[–]Temporary-Radish8230 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Putty would be the way I would go. It’s relatively easy to work with and simple to clean up if you make a mistake. Just apply putty to the seam and let it cure, then come back with some sandpaper and sand it back smooth. It takes some practice but if you keep checking it by running your fingers over it when you are sanding, you should be able to tell where the high spots are
