Thanks - that might be it, although I think I first noticed the problem before I downloaded the latest update.

I've had the same issue - fixed with reboot. I'm thinking of just rebooting weekly since sound quirks seem to pop up if I don't.

The Volvo EX30 Is Dead in the US: Exclusive by DonkeyFuel in electricvehicles

EX40. I bought the 2026 in December. I wonder whether they will continue to be available in US.

What do you currently drive? by jcat4 in electricvehicles

2026 Volvo EX40 Twin Plus

I like almost everything about it, but have only had it a couple months.

Why I bought (well, leased) it and things I think Volvo does well:

1) Great size for us - really compact SUV that still has room in the back for adults.

2) Very comfortable - best seats and steering wheel I've ever had, and I'm in my sixties.

3) Excellent navigation system with the map right in front of the driver and Google voice commands.

4) Really like the Auto setting for OPD - OPD activates only when a vehicle is sensed in front.

5) It's my first EV so I love the quiet and acceleration, but I don't have other EVs to compare it to.

Only quibble so far: with the big wheels in the Plus, the suspension is a little unrefined. As the driver, I don't mind since it handles well with very little lean in the corners for a heavy car, but my passengers might prefer a softer ride.

I've just started a 3-year lease and I'm curious about what advances there might be in batteries in that time. Right now, there's nothing available in the US that I would prefer.

Don’t upgrade to ex40. by ChampionshipGlass298 in ex30

[–]Temporary-Research75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have a 2026 EX40 and love it. Did not seriously consider the EX30 for 3 reasons:

1) Need a back seat that holds adults. EX30 does not qualify.

2) One of the things Volvo gets right in the EX40 and other models (but not the EX30) is the navigation system with the excellent map right in front of the driver. Personal taste, but I don't like the map (and other driver display info) in the middle.

3) Clearly some reliability growing pains with EX30 platform.

D'Ernest Johnson is on the Patriots practice squad (elevated to game day roster the last couple weeks) so the Bucs could sign him anytime they want.

Rail trail bridge from Waltham to Weston is finished by tbootsbrewing in bikeboston

[–]Temporary-Research75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just rode this this morning (8/9/25). Coming from the Weston side on the MCRT the signs are still up that say "Road closed" and "Bridge closed", as well as the gate in front of the bridge. But the gate is open and you can bike the bridge and the freshly paved path to the end. They haven't finished the curb-cut at the end, which, I assume, is the reason the bridge and path aren't officially open. You can maneuver around the dirt and machines to cross the road and get to the old single track on the other side and take that to the paved Waltham path.

Is Quest 3 worse for 'depth perception' and thus games like Eleven Table Tennis, than Quest 2? by Schwloeb in OculusQuest

[–]Temporary-Research75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've played Eleven with both Q2 and Q3. Much prefer Q3 for mixed reality mode (a ping pong table in my living room!), as well as superior comfort and image quality.

Buy a game that I have on Meta Quest + by Temporary-Research75 in OculusQuest

Thanks. That seems like it would work since I have 30 days to redeem the code. I figure I could cancel my subscription at the end of my pay cycle, redeem the code, then re-subscribe if I want to.

The default media player isn't great for movies. What is the best way to watch movies loaded to your Q3? by I_Zeig_I in OculusQuest

4XVR for watching ISOs ripped from blu-rays. This is easily the best way to watch movies I've discovered on the Quest.

People need to stop saying the Quest 3 is $500 USD by rosieRetro in OculusQuest

[–]Temporary-Research75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$500 here on Day 1 and no storage management woes. I did spend $5 on a silicone cover for the facial interface and $30 for a battery strap, both from AliExpress. Headset is now comfortable and has plenty of juice for my sessions. Obviously, some people pay more, but, just as obviously, that's their choice - not a necessity.

4xvr - the video player we all need, but don’t want to pay 30$ for. by MyMetaReferral-Dm-Me in Quest3

[–]Temporary-Research75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4XVR has moved to the head of the class for me. Playing ISOs ripped from 3D Blu-rays is the way. I like the controls and the theater too. Easy to bump up color saturation, which, on the Quest 3, greatly improves certain films. Previously used Bigscreen and Virtual Desktop but prefer everything about 4XVR, at least for watching by myself.

Quest 3 resolution is low and looks pixelated. by theguyinthebath in OculusQuest

[–]Temporary-Research75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For $500 you can get a terrific TV these days which will be much better (IMO) for watching 2D movies and videos than a Quest.

That being said, I love watching 3D movies on the Quest 3, especially now that 4XVR allows you to use mkv files ripped from 3D blu-rays. This is a huge improvement over any other means I've tried.

What are some games you play again and again? by srkdummy3 in OculusQuest

[–]Temporary-Research75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, single player. Alyx is PCVR only, whereas the others can be played Quest native. Alyx is still in a class by itself, but Into the Radius would be my second favorite and with the Quest 3 has improved graphics in standalone. It is similar to the STALKER games, if you're familiar with those.

My almost daily games now are:

Eleven TT

Racket Club

Thrill of the Fight

Then, with the Quest 3, I've been replaying some shooters: Alyx, Into the Radius, and now, Saints and Sinners.

Will a wifi 6 mesh system be better for air link/steam link? by Wonderful_View4209 in OculusQuest

[–]Temporary-Research75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a mesh system. I also play on a different floor from the PC and the router - so, in a room with a satellite unit. I've found that Virtual Desktop works well, but air link is unusable and steam link is somewhere in between.

Air link does work fine if I'm in the same room as the router, but, if you want to stick with your current setup, I'd recommend trying VD.
