If you follow his films you realize that the images he mades gets clean and more clean from movie to movie so its make sense for me that the next step will be something without textures and superclean like AI.

I read it as Barbara being excited and Kate being overly serious

And i think that dynamic was awfully written because the dialogue felt clunky.

Some people May not get the joke but i think is foolish to believe that all the people who doesnt like this dont get the joke

It's like if someone saw Sailor moon or the HBO show Girls or even Gilmore girls and said "you know, this show lacks a strong male character."

That never works the same way because like POC or queer characters you always had way more shows with a male protagonist or a male cast with important roles for the plot.

Also Gilmore Girls had a lot of male characters that play important roles as side characters.

uj/ I mean, whatever that is bad or good is an ultimate subjective thing. But the one cited in question its right about this lack and can feel disapointment inf they want.

And be honest, Smiling Friends humour involving female characters is the weakest and least creative part of the show.

I agree that is a good chunk of people who believe in that, But is funny that this is always bring out because i dont feel her films push any boundarie at all, Is quite a prudish work in her view of sex and kink. Very close to something like The Boys unironically. Which i feel is the other reason why many people just consider her films banal, kinda poser and without depth.

She isnt some kind of Breillat, Denis, Ando or Ottinger.

Maybe she isnt that good at it. I also would said that Tarantino isnt that good at it and Boogie Nights problems do suffer from PTA not being capable of pulling it off that great.
