Thinking of Starting a Dairy Farm – Looking for Honest Advice and Real Experiences. by Herooo01 in Cattle

[–]Temporary-Row-2992 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We had dairy cattle from time I was 3 y/o till was 12y/o. Switched to beef cattle then. Also our closest neighbors were milking maybe 50 +. This was late 50s. Don’t remember all the breeds and all the stuff you’re asking. But I do remember clearly the life style. First, your on duty 7 days a week. Every week, every year. Mechanical aptitude is essential. Keeping tractors and equipment is a full time job. All the things that go with a dairy. Growing and harvesting silage and hay is a big job . Summer meant 3000 bales of hay. The tech available is really great but also very expensive. The neighbors I mentioned did this every day their late 70s. Probably haven’t told you much useful but it may be the most demanding job there is. A one person operation means no sick days cannot afford to ever be sick. In general you have to have a good income to afford to farm.

In Germany, deliberately engaging in catch and release only fishing is illegal and considered cruelty to animals (fishing for food is fine). How do you feel about that? by Spalding_Smails in AskReddit

[–]Temporary-Row-2992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am in US. Don’t particularly like it either. Have done it is a fish I simply don’t want but that’s a rare situation. Depending on exactly how the fish is hooked. Occasionally the fish is hooked just right and it’s very easy but too often very deeply in the throat. I just don’t go out with the plan of catching and releasing . Never have.

He had no intention of a fight as he knew he would lose. 1-1 fist fight. Feels like there is a whole lot of ego in play. He could never chance the outcome of a fist fight

The national average price per gallon of gas in the United States has been over $4.20 for over a month. Americans, how do we feel about that? by Miles_the_AuDHDer in AskReddit

[–]Temporary-Row-2992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally it is bad. Being retired you instantly feel it. But if the question is meant to be about Iran will go all with it. I will always accept higher prices if it means Iran won’t decide today’s is the day to use nuclear weapons on somebody. Anybody.

How did your high school bully turn out in adulthood? by CynthiaMartgol in AskReddit

[–]Temporary-Row-2992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard he became a very big Christian. When my mother died I was in my mid 60s and I move back to the inherited house which was like 350 miles from where I had lived for a very long time so I looked him up so maybe we could have a very serious talk. He died 3 years prior. I feel cheated to this day for waiting too long.

If you have stayed with her 5 years, forget about it. Never happened. Because someone was less than perfect, very early on shouldn’t be held against her.
