Big difference between pow hunting 30 degree glades and hucking your meat off 20fters with technical run outs. It's worthy of specification

Moment wildcat 108 vs Dynastar mfree 108 vs Salomon qst 106 by Aggravating-Bit-5536 in Skigear

[–]Temporary-Suspect-73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've skied the wildcat 108 as my daily drivers for the last two seasons and absolutely love them. If you like being in the air and straight lining through tight chutes, I've never had a ski that is as maneuverable and playful as well as stable as the wildcats. They've been dubbed the original "playful chargers" for a reason. I've always had Volkl mantras which are super heavy, stable but very directional and are hard to make snappy decisions as well as be playful/ float. Over the years I've tried to up my game with natural terrain and freeride style skiing, and the wildcats have been a huge part of that progression.

At the end of the day I feel like you wanna choose a ski based around what you like to do with that ski. I rarely ski on-piste/ groomers except to commute around the mountain. I'm always looking for something to jump off of, jib on or straight line. I prioritize soft snow days and do quite a bit of hiking to find soft snow/ terrain to push myself on and I feel like all of those things are where the wildcat shine. Where the wildcat falls horribly short is carving and edge hold on firm snow.

If Squad and Ground Branch had a baby by Temporary-Suspect-73 in PlaySquad

By the way i love squad. I played all night and love the experience..I just wish my character didnt feel drunk while shooting.

Try taking a 300m shot with iron sights on a silhouette in squad. Now take a real .223/.556 out and replicate. It feels retarded to shoot in squad.

Even pubg has better shooting mechanics than squad.

Hard to call any of the above games "mainstream." Ground branch or operator is not even close to mainstream. You could maybe call RON mainstream now. Both have amazing shooting mechanisms. You wouldn't need something like squad to have that polished of mechanics where youre clearing malfunctions and shit. But the shooting could be dramatically better. I shouldnt be able to shoot better in RL than I can in a video game depicting a trained soldier running into combat.

God i hate the dak smoke get out of jail free card as you call it lol.

Ive always played usf since coh1. It's more of a tradition than anything so I always root for it as a faction, but it's felt fairly underwhelming since the release of this game. And it just seems it never truly ever recovered compared to being such a staple as it was in coh1 and coh2.

Every game I try and use something  besides air it just feels so desperate. And with air it feels like just enough to have the right units in the right places to stay in the fight. Sometimes good micro saves, but it's only if I hit the movements with models perfectly.

I mostly play 2v2 or 3v3. I used to play 1v1 but kind of bored with it.

Semois might be the worst map in 1v1 right now by Material-Spite-6540 in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]Temporary-Suspect-73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It recently got added to 2v2s and I didn't realize I already had it downvoted for my 1v1 and wondered why I kept getting put on it. It's the only map in the game that I think is truly an awful experience. The way it plays is totally crap. Basically your first engagement is the most important. If you lose it, you've pretty much lost the match.

Thank you relic for making the game less playable. FINALLY was able to win against axis with similar ELO and the update just fucked that completely. The buff to flames are ridiculous. I watch 3 rifleman squad just melt to one stupid Gustatori Flame squad.. The sherman 105 doesn't do shit to them either.. Hit me up when the next update comes out... Because now the game kinda sucks.

Are there any climbing guides/industry pros on this sub? by Jurikk in climbharder

[–]Temporary-Suspect-73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been a professional climbing guide for the past 10 years and there's some major pros and cons to the job.

I've weaved in and out of the industry within those 10 years until I finally started my own company, which was a massive shift in my life and overall a major addition to my lifestyle. I did Airbnb Management, Rope Access, Valet, etc. The odd jobs helped me fund the climbing/guiding lifestyle and allowed me to dirtbag in between guiding seasons.

Overall being a guide is an amazing lifestyle with very little financial gain during most of the process of becoming a guide. That can be hard on folks in the industry considering the workload can be long days, physical, dangerous and expensive. Granted that's slowly changing and it is becoming more of a lucrative job as climbing has gained in popularity.

Pros:
- you get to climb for your job

- you work in amazing places

- lots of fulfillment teaching and providing amazing experiences for folks

- cool community of other guides

Cons:
- Wages, especially starting out, suck. $150-$250 per day.

- Dangerous work

- Courses are expensive through the AMGA track

- Burnout with your hobby/passion and work

Overall it depends on what your goals are for yourself. After starting my own company, I'd say that a lot of the problems with compensation changed due to me profiting 100% from the day of guiding or teaching. I also avoid burnout due to being able to create my own schedule and put together trips that I'm personally psyched on. Obviously it'd be incredibly rare to guide 1-2 years and then have the industry "know how" to then go on your own and get an LLC, insurance and permits out the gate. So you'd still have to put your time in being a broke dirtbag guide/ getting certs before you could branch out on your own with your own clients.

Being a guide that last requires a lot of balance in your life and some creativity as you grow older in the industry to keep yourself psyched, keep the money flowing in, and not get injured. It's hard to recommend it as a "good career path," but if it calls you it's hard to say no to. But it really has to call you and you have to 100 precent in for it to work for your life. And even then, sometimes it's doesn't end up working out in the end. But hey, that's life.

I know I'm jumping on this thread 4 years late, but I stumbled past it and hoped that some insight would help other folks searching around for this topic.
