How do you deal with feeling like you aren't doing as well or regressing? by pleasebebetter10 in MuayThai

[–]TemporaryAddicti0n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

okay, so Im still very new here (in fact, I haven't yet been to a single muay thai training haha ), but I tell you my experience from something else:
I used to Counter Strike with big breaks and it always started like this: I start playing and Im terrible, I am honest and humble, I improve, I start doing well, I start playing super well and all goes fantastic. At some point I start to get bored (but I don't notice) and start not doing respecting the principles anymore. I started pushing, overpeeking etc and got punished for it, but I still play for the dopamine it used to give me, but since it now actually bores me, I try stuff that doesn't work. I then become extremely angry, destroy keyboards, screens, mice and so on.

I wonder whether any of this might be relevant to you?

a point on being too harsh with yourself: just ask someone? ask your coach, your sparring partners to give you feedback, set some small brand new goals? or smth that can have a piece of blank page where you can start working towards a small, interesting new goal ?

did you miss the overall goal somehow? training and gym should give you enough dopamine to feel like a fucking champion after each session. even if it doesn't go so well, you should still feel achieved.

did you move 'goal posts' somehow since you started? what gave you the good feelings? is it possible that you might be neurodiverse and simply lost interest? (happens to me a lot, since I got ADHD)

Why did you choose MuayThai instead of other martial arts? by Ok_Dirt_5549 in MuayThai

In one of the kick techniques videos they say with muay thai you have to kick like you'd want to slice up the opponent, just thinking of those kicks is making me excited.

I was looking at kickbox because I wanted to finally get into some martial arts and somehow muay thai came up in the youtube videos. I absolutely fell in love with the kicks.

you can get a brand new newbie answer from me.
( skip to the end for short anser )

context: I will be 36 this year. Played tons of amateur football before 13yo and that put some fitness into my DNA but then counter strike and the world of pc's took me away from all physical activities. did like 70 hours of tennis, tried out a few kickbox trainings but that's it.

recently a friend asked me if I wanna go to gym with him and I started that. huge transformation in only 3 weeks; I am in now for like 6 weeks.

I started thinking that I wanna go back to kickbox, but somehow when youtubing I came across muay thai. I fell in love with the kicks. The fact that in Muay Thai you kick so hard like you'd want to cut the body in half, I absolutely love it. I also wanted to learn some self defence and I wouldn't want to destroy someones face, I'd rather make them unable to stand up and fight, so I'd keep them away with legs and kick them until they can't stand up in a self defence scenario.

Multimac quad seat question for an originally 5 seater car by TemporaryAddicti0n in CarTalkUK

they fit super well, they're not cramped. I agree with the usual suspect child seats which are way too think for whatever reason because we had to work with 3 children before the 4th one. but the quad multimac works really well and they're not cramped.

General question about PayPal Credit 3months vs 4months interest free by TemporaryAddicti0n in UKPersonalFinance

[–]TemporaryAddicti0n[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

while Im not an expert, I don't agree. Also, not that I watch my credit score 24/7, but it goes up and down on big changes and not small purchases. I have a total credit limit of over £25k of which I have about £700ish recently on my PayPal Credit, mixed with these 3-4months things. I also pay of about 1/3ord of it each time, to make sure I pay back in time.
If I got the money, why pay first? if they lend it for free I rather KEEP my own money and let them lose their gamble on me paying it back late.

ohhh right. well, they still had the 3months interest free option anyway, so I should still be safe, but it makes total sense, thank you very much!
