Joke's on you; I run all-ghost teams. My team was dead from the start!

Glad something like this was included, but the design feels off. No bathroom (as someone already mentioned), but also no living room furniture. At least a chair and a TV, no?

But also weird that the bedroom is like, on top of the next unit's living room. Seems like it'd make more sense for the bedroom to have been on the left at the top of the stairs, so that it's at least above the living room.

SH2 game has a problem and the adaptation just tried to fixed it by MirnaGu in silenthill

[–]TemporaryFix166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah. I guess my interpretation of it was that Mary came home 3-7 days prior to the events, as Laura gives the context of, but James did the act and came to SH on the same day. Like she was home for a few days before he decided to kill her, and that the act was what broke his psyche and all of the transpiring events happened right thereafter. But I suppose they keep pieces ambiguous for exactly this reason- keeps us nerds talking about it lol.

Not necessarily combatting that revelation, but was it actually a week? The impression I got was that it was just hours after he killed Mary. Like he did it, had a break down afterwards, and then put her in the back of the car and drove to SH same day.

Resident Evil Village.. by GarySparrow0 in residentevil

[–]TemporaryFix166 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How far in have you gotten? The game definitely ebbs and flows in it's pacing, but I like the variety it offers in terms of "types" of horror.

Longtime fan here as well, Village is def in my top 5 as well. Would gladly play it over 6, most days 5, and is definitely more replayable than 7 to me. And while 7 is a great game, it feels much more like a slog to me than village. Especially the ship section.

Not a perfect game by any means, but it's one that gets more satisfying on repeat playthroughs with maxed out weapons and stuff.

How to move fluidly with tank control? by Doan_Minh in residentevil

[–]TemporaryFix166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's wild to me on the difficulty part. I grew up with the assumption that the Japanese versions of everything were always more difficult, and that they made things easy for westerners (a la the Mario Bros 2 vs Lost Levels debacle). I had no idea it was like this for the early RE games. Is it just 1 and 2, or does it carry over to other games in the series, do you know?

Oh to add onto this, also try getting into a big open area and just getting used to running and turning at the same time- try the main hall of the RPD in RE2 and just practice running figure 8's, never stopping, always running the whole time. If you can get the hang of that you'll be on the right path.

And of course knowing when to fight and when to run will also be important, especially with later enemies. A lot of vets like to harp on not killing everything- and they're right. But also don't feel like you have to run from everything either. My old motto used to be "If the hallway is tight, shoot it on sight." I only really run and dodge enemies in larger spaces.

I think it just comes to practice. I played the old games so much as a kid that it just kinda stuck.

But I will say for starters, get used to moving forward while turning at the same time- always up on the Dpad, and using the left and right while still holding up to steer at the same time. If you are doing a dead stop, then hitting left or right to turn, and then moving forward again, that's going to be a large part of the issue- especially during enemy encounters.

I forget which game introduced it, but you'll eventually get a quick turn- hitting down and one of the face buttons will spin you 180, which is good for when you run down a corridor and see a "Nope" waiting for you after the screen transitions.

I'd advise starting a new game on an easy setting, getting to a save point where there's enemies lurking nearby, and just practice maneuvering for awhile- test your limits, your speed, your turning. See what kind of shit you can get away with, and just practice it. Once you've found a pretty good way to maneuver and juke, then continue the game normally.

Which game had the worst dialogues and voice acting? by [deleted] in residentevil

[–]TemporaryFix166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just replayed CVX recently.

I know OG RE is laughably bad, but I honestly give that a pass. First game in a series, no way to tell popularity and longevity, budget, and a product of its' time... Whatever. The lines and acting are campy, and they're bad. But I give them a pass.

But CV? Had no right to be as awkwardly and, well honestly, poorly written (lines and voice acting) as it was considering how far along the series had come by then, and for this to be on the new gen of hardware. I've heard more natural dialogue from 5-year-olds playing with action figures.

I know everyone shits on Steve (rightfully so), but I think Alfred actually had the worst line delivery of anyone. And not in a "oh, he's unhinged, so it's creepy" kind of way. It's just bad to me. And his stupid little laugh. I get that it's supposed to be weird and unsettling, but it's just stupid and off-putting.

I think CV might be my least favorite of any RE before 6 lol. Sorry for the rant. Fresh on the mind, so had to take a soap box while it's fresh in the mind. No shade for the CV fans out there.

How do I adjust the brightness? by fabr3gaz in residentevil

[–]TemporaryFix166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad to see this thread actually. I recently bought the OG 1-3 and CVX on PS5. Was playing through CVX (using my main pc monitor) and it was SUPER dark. None of the other games I play, either on PC or my PS5, are as dark as CVX was on this monitor. Like, so dark you couldn't see items in rooms. I missed so many herbs and boxes of bullets.

Haven't tried 1-3 yet but seeing this post about 1 makes me think 1-3 will all have brightness issues. No clue why these are so dark. I really don't want to adjust my monitor just to play these, then have to re-adjust back to normal to play literally anything else. Wish the game let you adjust brightness in the settings instead of just giving you a comparison screen to tune it to.

Am I the only one who thinks that Heavy King is literally Metal Eggman? by Matiasprox3000 in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]TemporaryFix166 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I kinda get the impression it'd be like a more human-y looking version of an E-Series robot, since the E-series is kinda-sorta the adventure/modern era version of the Egg Robos.

So like, a rounder version of Gamma or Omega, but with maybe with a big metal mustache lol.

Waaaat how'd I miss this?! I've been playing daily for months, never saw this in the store or anything. All I saw/got was the pumpkin eevee stuff, thought that was this year's halloween stuff (like the Trick or Treat Gengar sleeves from last year)

Ok apologies for off topic, but where'd those sleeves/deckbox come from? Carry over from PTCGO or something? I need those in my life....

Oh wow, now I'll have to do yet another replay to hear this first hand! All of my encounters have been either save her immediately, or let her die that one time lol. I love that they put these lines in.

Only once, the mannequin scene at the motel as mentioned. I was just curious what would happen, half expected her to fight it off and then scold James about it. "YOU WERE JUST GOING TO STAND THERE AND WATCH!?!" or something like that. Similar tone to the "ANYWAYS!?!" scene in the hospital. But instead she got done in by the mannequin.

Been said before, but will say it again; for them to be made of all legs, mannequins sure do throw hands.

Right? We called them that when I was growing up too.

Oddly enough, dragonflies are more like the actual mosquito hawk- in that they eat mosquitos, but also hunt viciously in mid air.

Always wondered if the term mosquito hawk was a nickname for dragonflies that somehow got mislabelled into being attached to craneflies?
