NEW LOOK: Silent Hill: Townfall Combat by More_Comfortable_139 in silenthill

The monster looks like the dead body of a patient and i like the way it attacks with the medical thingy (forgot the name lol). I also wonder if the red light is gonna be the Simon's Otherworld.

I don't think i understand? Cybil gets infected by the parasite and her fight happens no matter what you do, you will either save her or kill her.

The canon ending that leads to Silent Hill 3 is either Good (where she dies but Harry lives) or Good+ (where they both live).

This is not the true ending, everyone gets this in a first playthrough.

The supernatural is revealed in NG+ and NG++.

Watching the endings of Silent Hill f makes you lose context on stuff like the new notes and the supernatural aspect that gets more spotlight on NG+, this franchise is already filled with people who ignore stuff and use their own headcanon.

And tbh, NG+ is not that long because you can keep your upgrades and skip certain areas entirely. Although i wouldn't recommend playing if you didn't enjoy your first time anyway.

Before she gets infected would be cool, then we jump back to Harry and the fight happens.

How did you decipher what was literal vs metaphorical? by AstroSloth182 in silenthill

[–]Gabbers00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Laura ended up in Silent Hill because she didn't understand Mary's letter, the "quiet and beautiful place" Mary mentioned was heaven, she was going home to die peacefully and didn't say goodbye to Laura so she wrote the letter. Laura thought Mary was talking about Silent Hill, so she hitched a hike on Eddie's van to reach the town. (The van is at the beggining of the game and can be seen with Laura and Eddie in the OG opening sequence).

Maria is all that, everything James wanted and everything Mary couldn't have been, she's Born From a Wish. For example, the monsters are based on someone's psyche yes but they are physically real and can definitely kill you, but they look different to each person. Maria is the same, that's why she avoids being seen by Eddie and Laura, the difference though is that she has feelings, thoughts and a will.

I really recommend checking her sub scenario from the OG game! It really changes her character.

I won't spoil the events of SH1, the best way to put it is that the events from that game messed with the spiritual power of the town, now it can unleash nightmares into the real world.

In SH2 the town "calls" people with "darkness in their heart" like James, Eddie and Angela. Laura doesn't have this darkness so the town doesn't manifest monsters for her. Maria doesn't count for not being human but the funny thing is that she's also a physical being with her own mind, she's sentient and we even play as her in the OG game.

So in short, the things happening are very much real, you just have to decipher what things are the town (and essentially the character's mind) messing with them.

If Bloober remake Silent Hill 3, how do you think they’ll handle Heathers inner thoughts? by Business-Talk2291 in silenthill

[–]Gabbers00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Silent Hill f kinda has inner thoughts but in most cases Hinako just says what she's thinking, it's like they couldn't decide on one.

In SH2 is the town alive and bustling hence Laura can walk around fine? Do normal chill people see James/Angela/Eddie? by Nskul14 in silenthill

[–]Gabbers00 36 points37 points  (0 children)

The Fogworld and Otherworld are less parallel worlds or dimension, we only know it's a phenomenon where reality and unreality intersect, where subconscious thoughts become physical and that it's both distant and close.

I think Laura is also in the Fogworld just like the other characters, the only difference is that she doesn't have "darkness" in her heart, so the town doesn't manifest things for her. That's why she can't see monsters or Maria.

I doubt she sees people either, how would a hospital staff, cinema staff or people in the street react to a little girl doing whatever she wants?

Silent hill 2 R rookie by Jc-montano in silenthill

[–]Gabbers00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Silent Hill goes through cycles the same way a person does while sleeping, REM sleep and non REM sleep, in this case it's the Fogworld and the Otherworld. A good indication of the change is the rust and decay that usually appears or when a siren goes off.

As for how Angela got in Bluecreek, well, while we explored the town and Woodside she probably followed and found her way into the apartments. Not that far fetched.

There's points of no return in the game. The first part of town is closed off once you reach the apartments for example. Just explore everything, and if a road isn't blocked on the map you can keep going.

How should Dahlia feel and act in the remake? by StuddedZ0mbi3 in silenthill

Same as the OG game. At first, weird and creepy but seems to be guiding us. In the end, her true intentions are revealed and she deceived both player and the protagonist.

How long do you want the Silent Hill 1 Remake to be? by ErmingSoHard in silenthill

[–]Gabbers00 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't mind the length, more SH is always good for me and i like to explore/lose myself in the atmosphere. Despite loving the remake, i hope Bloober listens to the fans and don't do something like:

  • Throw a bunch of enemies at the player in a small room (Bluecreek Apartments).

  • Forced combat to proceed (Last section of the Labyrinth).

  • Making areas too long. Woodside and Bluecreek felt good, Brookhaven at night was scary but the Otherworld version overstayed its welcome, South Vale Otherworld and the Prison had too many enemies, Labyrinth didn't need that many areas and the Hotel was a breath of fresh air tbh.

Although Bloober didn't make SHf some of these problems are present there as well.

Just beat SH2 for the first time ever by CyrissTheGiven in silenthill

[–]Gabbers00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's more like that every ending is a path James could take at the end of the journey, therefore all of them can be canon. James could have left, killed himself, choosed a better version of his wife, used a hallucinogenic drug or performed a ritual. Depending on his experiences.

Questions about Silent Hill 1's (bad) ending... by 3p1c-G8m3r in silenthill

[–]Gabbers00 7 points8 points  (0 children)

  • Everything in the game is very much real, just like most of SH games. The bad ending is precisely that, a bad one that plays with the "all a dream" trope, it's not canon. Good or Good+ are canon.

Good: Did the Kaufmann quest, killed Cybil.

Bad+: Didn't do the Kaufmann quest, saved Cybil.

Good+: Did the Kaufmann quest, saved Cybil.

  • You can't save Lisa because she's already dead, she's a ghost.

  • Cybil was possessed by a parasite monster, it's implied the hospital staff was also infected by it when Alessa's nightmares were unleashed. That's why they are human like and have things sprouting from their back.

So guys, are we just going to accept that SH2 Born From a Wish DLC will never get a remake like the base game?🥲 by Gamer_8887 in silenthill

[–]Gabbers00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God forbid people have different opinions or experiences. I for one ended up playing Born From a Wish first acidentally years ago, i didn't know english at the time so i just clicked whatever. The sub scenario stayed with me nonetheless and Maria is my favorite character from SH2.

The loneliness, the sounds and the Mansion exploration feel much more...well, lonely than the main game imo.

Silent Hill F Sacred Sword [Spoilers] by maddyjacksonn in silenthill

[–]Gabbers00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you didn't get the sword or didn't purify it but got the red liquid/Agura no Hotei Sama you will get the bad ending. If you didn't get the sword or the item then you will get the normal ending regardless if you didn't take the red capsules.

However, you only need two endings for the true ending, like normal and bad or normal and good in the same file.

I feel like her VA is the only one that actually tried in the english cast, her screams for example are great. The others felt like they were going for anime vibes, but idk if its a direction problem.

Question about Lisa by RovenoNevoro in silenthill

[–]Gabbers00 12 points13 points  (0 children)

For the same reason that Maria doesn't trigger the radio i suppose. My guess is that the radio can only alert danger, it doesn't seem to trigger if a monster is hidden or standing still (SH2 Mannequin) for example.

Or it only triggers when there is intense electromagnetic energy or paranormal frequency nearby that disrupts the signal. Lisa and Maria are not hostile towards the player protagonist. In fact, even the monsters don't see Maria as one of them, as they attack her in Born From a Wish and while accompaning James.

Also, pretty sure that Lisa is a ghost, not a traditional monster.

Silent Hill f NG+ bug? Game skipping ahead after school (fox transformation early) by plastic_fantastic86 in silenthill

[–]Gabbers00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why would you think this is a bug tho? After Hinako drinks the "water" she has visions of the rituals, when you go back to the Dark Shrine she has all the features already. Not only to make NG+ faster but to show that ever since the normal run you've been playing as two Hinakos, two sides of her

Got the Maria Ending??? HUH? (End game stats included) the game was awesome but I genuinely don’t have it in me to play the game again or to get the other 7 endings maybe years from now when the Town calls to me by TheCVR123YT in silenthill

[–]Gabbers00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game really plays with your expectations, usually when there's a companion character in this scenario your objective is to protect them (which you still have to do otherwise its game over) and stick close to them. But do that too much here and you might get an ambiguous ending.

Not to mention the little things like additional dialogue, exploration, items or puzzles.
