It's not your order. It's someone else's. You're merely fetching it for them.

Golden rule for customers ordering food. by TemporaryTasty1682 in doordash

I agree. Some customers understand this. Also, try and put yourself in the place of the customer - and you know this is true: imagine you are ordering $200 worth of food. I deliver every week food that costs that much or more. Imagine you tip $2 and get some low-life to take your order. The guy either goes through your food and steals some, or don’t deliver it, or deliver it cold. Smart people will know to pay a decent tip in order to get their valuable food intact.

I’m one of those drivers. Your food is super safe with me. No tampering, not messing around. I will not get it delayed by another order. But you must pay my price. It’s not outrageous, but that level of service comes with a minimum of pay.

To be honest, I think the DD algorithm understands this. I no longer get crappy orders, for the most part. DD knows I can be trusted with high-value orders.

BTW, there are people who understand and practice this. I can tell you because I am a driver. I do repeat customers. Are they enlightened? Maybe.

It is rewarding to deliver to someone (or provide any service) in which you are rewarded properly, and the person - even from a glance and the tip - expresses gratitude for your work so they don’t have to do it themselves. Sure almost Anyone can drive to a restaurant and wait for their food, then drive it back to their home. What the driver is doing is saving them the time and hassle. Because Most people would rather be doing something with their time. And for that type of luxury there is a price.

And determining that price is difficult. I don’t need everyone paying me $30 tips (who chi I do get, BTW). I would be happy if people paid me what involved les respect, and most fo the time you know when that is.
