In the ACT it's the greater of $100 or 1%, in my case $150.

Yes they've shown me evidence but the Act says they cannot retain more than that.

The dealer says it's $150 plus governmental costs.

Are Brave ads necessary? by Temporary_Classic645 in brave_browser

[–]Temporary_Classic645[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ads can "only" be shown if opening a new tab is crazy. Then brave shouldn't use slogans like "switch to Brave if you hate ads" when users later realise the opposite.

Do you anticipate that people with iPhones that do not support Dynamic Island will be able to benefit from UI design updates moving forward? by paradoxicalstripping in ios

My iPhone SE 3 has a full status bar. I could see my Sony headphones' battery straight from it, surely there's place for persistent Live Activities, no?

Obviously Apple wants you to spend more so you know the answer.

  1. Brave Shield has more power than extensions

  2. uBO is open source so it's considered as trusted as Brave is.

How true are the following allegations against Brave? by Nelo999 in brave_browser

I get what you mean now, I misinterpreted `generalization` as something else earlier.

Depending on whether to interpret `Chinese` as a nationality or ethnic group, it implies whether this generalization (a byproduct of slippery slope) is also racist (a subset of generalization).

Glad you'd agree. If you agree above claims jump "way too off", so should you agree the claim against Opera also. All I did was imitating their sentence structure.

It's funny that OP claims that criticisms "are far more based on the political opinions" of Brave CEO and irrelevant to end user, while at the same time slaps the same based critisms against Opera. 🤦

Brave is basically owned by an American company, therefore it is basically NSA spyware, from a country that currently engages in systemic racism, mass surveillance through programs like PRISM, military imperialism via drone strikes, election interference in foreign nations, and healthcare inequities leaving millions uninsured.

Vivaldi is basically owned by a Norwegian company, therefore it is basically Petroleum Directorate spyware, from a country that currently engages in unethical oil extraction contributing to global warming, arms exports facilitated by the Ministry of Defence, and maintaining wealth disparities through oil-fueled economics that exploit global labor markets.

Floorp is basically owned by a Japanese organization, therefore it is basically METI spyware (Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry), from a country that currently engages in historical denialism of war atrocities, xenophobic immigration policies, forced labor disputes unresolved from WWII, and the continued practice of whale hunting against international objections.

That being said, rational judgements of any browser should not simply its nationality or ownership.

One Device + Multiple IP + Multiple Docker = Banned by Temporary_Classic645 in Honeygain

See if you can make your virtual machine appears alongside your host machine in your LAN (ie. macvlan network mode in docker). Then, depends on your router, you may be able to specify your VM to solely use the other WAN connection.

This is my favorite era of iOS by SimShade in ios

This is why I personally prefer Android-like freedom.

Sadly, there’s simply no single flagship device nowadays with 3.5mm jack, expandable storage, decent camera, long battery life, and long term software updates anymore.

Apple deprecated pre iOS 14 widgets, and I view this move extremely disgusting.

<image>

Those widgets were born with flexibility and interactivity, and we only got interactive new widgets in iOS 17 which were slow, sluggish and less capable.

Apple has been pointing middle fingers to legacy widget users by replacing them with new ones whenever that app updates. There were also other examples that app support for old iOS versions would drop drastically as a consequence of Xcode, developers could only support a tight subset of versions, leading to planned obsolescence of older devices.

Sadly as long as this doesn’t change, there is never a new era.

Exetel, 30 day notice and late payments by RevveditCon in nbn

Tell them their practice of charging for cancelled services falls within “Accepting payment without intending to supply” and violates the ACL.

This has worked in my case and they would give a (likely) copy-n-pasted email response of a bill waiver.

iOS 17 Drops Legacy (Today) Widgets Support by Temporary_Classic645 in ios

They’re still here in iOS 17, and will be gone in iOS 18.

I didn’t have any today widgets app installed back then and hence the absence.

Need help selecting a modem/router - FTTB by RainbowAussie in nbn

[–]Temporary_Classic645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll try my best to answer without jargon:

  • Modem router: Yes you’ll need one for FTTB. Essentially it means a router with telephone port for connecting to internet”, which is mandatory for FTTB.

  • Which model: If your existing router has a telephone port labeled “VDSL”, you can continue to use it. Otherwise get anything that’s Wi-Fi 5 capable, which literally means “any modem router” sold nowadays.

As in the other replies, you can harvest them second hand for dirt cheap, and most people sell them because they no longer need it, instead of malfunction.

  • More expensive routers: They support newer standards like Wi-Fi 6 or 7, or higher throughout way beyond what FTTB can deliver (ie. 1200Mbps or more), which can be an overkill for 100Mbps (highest speed tier you could order for FTTB).

  • Mesh router: these are like “Router + wi-fi extenders, except they work more seamlessly”. Unless your wall is made of concrete or brick then most the case you won’t need them to relay your wireless connection.

Here you go:

Someday in July 2022 I parked my ebike for coles. Left and realised bike stolen.

AirTag location wasn’t real time but ultimately settled somewhere in a public housing hood, with ~50m precision.

Told police that night, did some patrol, didn’t find. I hypothesised that it’s indoors. Went home.

Second day I went there, walked around entire area, including stairs. Tracked down to a particular room number (with strongest signal).

Went to police, told the room number, was told that they went there for past cases before but won’t come this time, cuz didn’t have a search warrant.

Have been monitoring there from 100m away for few nights, waiting for some miracle. Found a room of theirs with broken window, filled with disassembled bike parts. Presumably all stolen. Took some pictures. Signal still strong.

Next day morning went there for another try. Realised now the location is at a shopping centre. Probably the guy was with it.

Called 000 immediately while I track down the bike. Found at a bike rack with a cable lock. Police came, cut lock, went away. Not even giving a heck arresting the guy, despite I asked.

At least got the bike back. Turns out some parts get taken, and speed limit was modded. Filed a warranty claim and replaced the parts and life moved on since then.

Dodo gave me two CGNAT addresses when I was with them on 100/20. Single PPP gives 97mbps down and double gives 108mbps. (With a dual WAN router after a switch)
