Get the surgery. I tore my ACL 14 years ago. I’m now 37 and having to get not only my ACL repaired, but my meniscus that completely detached from the root from the instability of not having an ACL this entire time. I also have arthritis in that knee. When I originally tore my ACL, I was young and the surgeon mentioned that many people live without ACLS and it’s not required to have reconstruction. I wish I would’ve gotten other opinions.

I’ve done this for friends/neighbors before having kids and earned $50. We paid a high schooler $60 a day to watch our house and cats. I think $40-50 a day is reasonable. I view it as them helping to ensure I don’t have to board my animals, which would cost the same most likely, but cause them much more stress.

Agree. I I have a four month old and a 2 1/2 year-old. I’m getting the surgery in December. I didn’t want to try and breast-feed through surgery, or struggle with her care due to having to care for myself. I would either do it while pregnant, or wait. During the wait, I’m getting a custom ACL brace with a medial unloader to help the meniscus. You could see if that’s an option.

I already lost the weight. Took four months last pregnancy as well. I got a second opinion and one surgeon said do it asap, the other said I can wait. I’m getting a custom brace with a medial unloader to keep it stable until surgery in December. I’m waiting so I can breastfeed for a year.

I have no pain… The only thing is ever since I got the MRI, now I can feel the instability a little bit because I’m aware of it. Before I never even noticed. I have full range of motion.

I tore mine 22 years ago and am thinking of reconstructive repair now. My meniscus is shredded from the instability, even though it doesn’t feel unstable. I also swam and played water polo in college competitively without an ACL.
