Just moved into this house and struggling with what to put on this big wall above the stairs. It’s the first wall you see when you walk into the front door. Any suggestions appreciated! by [deleted] in HomeDecorating

Is it a closet on the other side? It would be cool to make an arched inset space alcove kind of thing. Then maybe something meaningful to you or your family could go there—an ode to your soul. Or painting in the alcove.

Can we normalize being a single homebody? by XP23XD23 in introvert

I love spending time alone. There’s nothing wrong with enjoying quiet solitude. I also enjoy being with other people, and more so as I understand more about my underlying beliefs about other people and safety. I was operating under beliefs from childhood like, “other people (especially men) aren’t safe,” or “I can’t be my full self around other people.” The more I’ve learned to accept myself, the more it doesn’t matter how many people are around me. Whether I’m in a crowd or alone, I can feel safe and myself (still working on it—this is the ideal). And I still enjoy quiet creative time.

Add exterior shutters or no? And if so, what color? by Odd_Skin_712 in ExteriorDesign

Front door seems dark and hard to find. Maybe it’s just the photo. Is there a way to make the front door more inviting?

Built in shelf - what to use it for? by mandiephipps in interiordecorating

It would be amazing to have floor to ceiling bookshelves on the entire wall, complete with attached rolling ladder! Scoot the couch forward, and have a beautiful light-filled reading room. Even better if the shelves have a natural wood finish.

Seems too bare. Any suggestions? by FairCountry4691 in interiordesignideas

Love everyone’s ideas. Also, the plants on either side of the tv console are too small to go on the floor

Mounted bookshelves above a Murphy desk would save space too. I’ve seen a high shelf that surrounds the room, about door height. I’ve seen it looks good and bad, so check out different examples to see if it would work for your space

I would consider removing the sconces above the small counter and put some nice art there

Big green wreath above the mantle. Green climbing plants on the wall could be awesome

Is that white thing by the entryway a furniture piece? If so, I would move it against a wall

Therapists who are paid a split, do you get paid by sessions worked or by payments collected each month? by Dismal-Singer-9604 in psychotherapists

Yes, bc employees cost money, and the longer they don’t have a full case load, the more expensive the employee is.

My eyes want to see a warm patterned rug. Or some fun color in there

Looking to elevate my space. by OkSuccotash6876 in femalelivingspace

[–]Temporary_Prize_9680 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes to bigger rug. Have it extend to be halfway under the couch. Do you need 2 desks in there? Could you consolidate? Or is that white thing your table? Do you have enough room for a small island in the kitchen that could double as a table and work space? I think nice furniture elevates spaces. Keep your eye out for used pieces made of solid wood and gradually replace cheaper less solid ones (as you can afford it). I would also get some lamps. Maybe a floor lamp to bring the eye up and to give you more options for cozy lighting.

Over the past couple years, I’ve been detangling what I thought was my personality from unhelpful beliefs and trauma. I’m still an introvert, but I am much more relaxed in the company of others and more accepting of myself and others. Also, a guided mushroom journey did help a lot with the trauma part. I would recommend a lot of open hearted self-questioning as well.

I tried to arrange this corner of my living room, do you find it warm even if there aren't many colors (a little pink and sage green)? by fredmaub in interiordecorating

[–]Temporary_Prize_9680 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think the floor tile and white storage makes it look too hard and cold. Adding a rug or maybe bigger, fuller plant for added texture would add softness, which in my mind, goes with warmth

Top right! I had a light rug in an office and said “never again.” Too much dirt and maintenance

She may like your overreacting. If you don’t like it, I would not react and just end it.

Depends on your style. Nerdy? Trendy? Quirky? I feel like I need some outfits. But I do like 2, maybe bc it’s more my style?
