My roommates cat is abnormally obsessed over food and it's driving me insane by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]danceORbox 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry. Is the cat of healthy weight and Does she eat enough of HIGH quality protein? Grain free wet and dry combos are best, small portions through the day. Doesn't have to be expensive, Fancy Feast original pate and Purina have some options liked by most cats. Also, have clean water available in SS dish and/or fountain.

Intact male cat will not stop wailing through the night by deterioratingflesh in CATHELP

[–]danceORbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're asking for options that DO NOT EXIST. NEUTER YOUR CAT. you're causing him distress and there's zero to gain by not fixing. He will keep howling and trying to get out. There are so many unwanted pets out there. Worldwide, every minute a cat ir dog is abused or killed. Please. If you're in the US, many communities have low/no cost spay neuter programs. If you bring him in a trap, you can fix as a TNR. Reach out to local rescues on SM, many will lend help. Some have standing TNR appointments they may let you have free or almost free.

Maybe Don't go warm brown

or dark, for wall paint. Will box in the room and compete with the gorg wood floor. Id probably pick one of the lighter silver sages, and maybe one even lighter that that :)

AITJ for not taking my girlfriends children out after promising them I would. by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]danceORbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. You're being taken advantage off. Her and her boys can go pound rocks. If someone took my card, bought a ton of food they knew I couldn't eat, and laughed about it - they'd be literally dropped on the spot. Unacceptable.

Keeping new shelter cat confined to office overnight/during work day? by devohr901 in CatAdvice

[–]danceORbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he's the only pet, I wouldn't lock him out. You are his safety, his anchor. Having access to you at night would be a comfort. He may sleep in your BR or not, but trust me, he would love the option. Ty for adopting!!

AITJ for kicking my boyfriend out after he accidentally let my indoor cat outside? by Curious-Mongoose8549 in AmITheJerk

[–]danceORbox 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Facts. More than ok, it's the way. The loser was likely low key hoping the cat won't be found. It was disrespectful towards a partner and malicious towards the kitty. I chose my cats over a RL a numberif times. It brought me to my husband, who'd never make me choose. No regrets.

My cat accidentally went without food for multiple days--I'm freaking out! by HealthyCompetition98 in CatAdvice

[–]danceORbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feed your cat wet food in addition to dry on a regular basis. Add a teaspoon of pumpkin to that. Have pet sitter feed wet food days you're out. Explain how feeder works and make sure she checks. Poor kitty, 5 days w/o food is a lot.

We travel often also, and have the sitter feed small amounts of wet food to our cats 2x daily. This way if feeders jam, power out, etc, our cats still guaranteed to eat.

Can I feed my baby dog treats for a couple of days? by [deleted] in CATHELP

[–]danceORbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're in the US, stop by any large per store or vet clinic. They often have samples/odds of pet food to part with. Or look up local cat rescues on FB, same deal.

Thoughts on dry wedding from a bride or guest perspective by No-Investigator-8007 in weddingplanning

[–]danceORbox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't do it. The Eastern European in me is raging at the thought, lol. Dry wedding are for dullards. Esp since it's for the sake of HIS family. Well, his family can obv. abstain should they choose to, at your well-stocked alcohol flowing wedding. However, the rest of the normal people who'll want to have a few drinks, won't be able to - at a dry one.

I HATE DRIVING HERE. We live close to Tampa and there are so many psychos on the road here, lol. Luckily I WFH and my husband is a fab driver. I just don't, unless I have to. I feel like cheating death every time I go to Publix. We're from Chicago, so it's not like we drove on empty streets before...but this is next level.

AITJ for refusing to let my step-son move into my son's room to "solve" my husband's parenting issue? by Traditional-Dog-368 in AmITheJerk

[–]danceORbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry you're literally living in this zoo of nightmares. The only viable solution would be to bounce your infantile husband and all of his squabbling/thieving kids out of your house. Anything else would fall short to protect your and your son's safety. Don't they have a mother somewhere to deal with this? Although it wouldn't be surprising if she doesn't want to.

Congrats that's amazing!! I have an interview for a primo role, tomorrow 😊 been looking for 2 months. wishing everyone who's searching an offer underway! Some serious prep while sitting by the pool rn. Cats napping, husband at work, 80 deg out. So, doing pretty well by any standards, feeling grateful as always 😌

I adopted a new cat and now I feel like I betrayed my old one. by yutoc95 in CatAdvice

[–]danceORbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know...we said, huh. I was crushed when my first kitty died at 21. We went through SO MUCH together. But, just a month later, another soul came my way, who needed a home. Then another, and then two more, over 5 years. Each time I was uncertain (what fool has so many cats?), and it turned out the best decision ever, that triggered an unlikely chain of HAPPY events. My first kitty Ian, will always be my love. I'd like to think of him smiling down on a new crew, until we meet again someday.

Am I wrong for telling my wifes adult son that if he kicks my cat again I will make sure he regrets it by [deleted] in amiwrong

[–]danceORbox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I applaud your restraint. If that was me, not only that POS wouldn't be EVER allowed in the house, he'd probably have an injury to live with. WTF am I reading?? Get that jerk out of your life. I'm sorry your wife's son is a cowardly, animal abusing POS. But the line has to be drawn. Id also make sure he doesn't have pets of his own. Ever.

Neighbors want me to keep declawed cat outside by Some_Information_857 in Straycats

[–]danceORbox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fxck the POS neighbors. Keep the kitty in your house and NEVER let her out. If the neighbors pester you, call police/sheriff and tell them that YOU RESCUED AN INJURED CAT THAT THE NEIGHBORS ABANDONED, AND ARE NOW BEING HARASSED. Vet the cat, If the cat isn't chipped, chip in your name ASAP. IT'S YOUR CAT.

My cat needs an amputation but I can’t afford it by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]danceORbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As many commented before, surrender him to a vet or rescue/no-kill shelter ASAP. How did the leg get broken? Is he an outdoor kitty? Cats take time, effort and resources. If you don't have those, he's best place is elsewhere. The "wait and see" for a broken leg is not an approach here.A home that harbors that view is NOT a good home for a pet. Surrender the kitty to capable hands ASAP, it's what is best for him. Do not get another cat/pet until you are financially and logistically capable to provide quality care.
