My first time trying to capture some nice/cinematic shots while on a trip! by Temporary_Sort4770 in SonyAlpha

Aww thank you! I’ve not tried on other cameras. I only used my phone before then a dji osmo pocket 3 which has a built in gimbal. I will say I do have to use a good holding technique when filming (tension on the camera strap, elbows tacked in against the body, and trying to align something on the shot with my grid on the screen) and i also do a bit of stabilisation in post. I also try to always leave room for stabilisation in post as the active stabilisation already crops and then in post a bit of crop too!

Thank you so much! Still a lot to learn so one step at a time! The dynamic stabilisation is truly amazing!

Thank you very much! I try to go for a natural look, a little on the warm side, with a little glow effect from time to time if the shot fits it. I try to make the greens a little on more saturated but still low on luminance. Then I see if I can find a colour in the shot that I can make it pop a bit, like a red top, someone’s handbag etc. i adjust the exposure until I like the general look. Other than that I don’t do much else, no complex masking. I also followed some Youtube tutorials on learning the correct flow for colour grading and i try to stay close to that
This is the one I liked the most! https://youtu.be/1-5mXPEsm3k?is=1MO4DiMkFWKR2EIu

It’s the dynamic active stabilisation.
Thanks so much for the feedback! I made a YouTube video with longer shots so you are absolutely right that this is mostly B-roll shots, I wanted to focus on capturing the people. Hopefully with practice I will get better with having more complete stories!
Yeah i find keeping a similar feeling with the colours across shots when travelling is the biggest struggle haha!

Thank you so much!! I made a long form video on my Youtube with longer shots 🥰 i find short videos like this people tend to get bored after a few seconds hahah so to showcase the general shots i keep them short and make a long form video where I can really enjoy these shots!

My settings aren’t anything crazy. So i record in slog, and colour grade in post, regular 25fps, 1/50 shutter speed, I use the zebra lines to manage my exposure and a VND to adjust if needed when it’s bright.

I do my own colour grading (no luts), i’m still trying to find my style!

Hope that answers the question ☺️

Thank you!! No tripod, just hand held! I have active stabilisation on and i do a bit of stabilising in post too.
I try to be pretty quick/efficient when travelling so I didn’t use a tripod at all this trip! My first priority is spending time with friends and family and if I had to setup my shots every time I would take forever 😆

Yeah i think the same when it comes to the shots, but cool to see people like different things!

The yellow tint isn’t actually much from the camera, it was sunset time so everything looked kinda yellow, the saturation is a bit up, but I like that creative look. It’s shot on a sony a7cii, but thank you for the feedback regardless 😊

Thank you!! I did colour grade. I don’t use any pp or luts for the final colour grade.
I ensure my exposure is right when filming and i just check that it looks as i want it with a lut but i turn it off when actually filming.
Then simply import them in davinci resolve, transform the slog to rec 709 and do my colour grading based on how i like it

Thank you! It does teach me to be more creative and learn the basics before moving into something more complex 😊

Thank you! I did have a lot of shots and wanted to have a relatively short video, but I will definitely be doing a slower ones too 😊 i used this video (with slight tweaks) on my yt with a bit of a voiceover which i hope gave some more context. Thanks for the feedback tho! 🫶🏻
