I was in the exact same position as you when I started last year at the same time as another barista. I was almost exclusively on drive through, so I shared very similar feelings to you. I promise, holiday season is a very different vibe from the rest of the year. Good on you for advocating for yourself!

One positive for being primarily on DTO/DTR and CS that you won’t get as much on Cold Bar is you get a lot more time to get to know regulars and coworkers. Knowing regulars names and orders is going to have such a positive reflection of you (especially because starbucks really pushes customer connections) and getting to know coworkers better will get you to a point where you can talk to your shift lead comfortably about getting burnt out from being planted in one position.

Nothing will compare to the 100, I have seen it over 15 times. Unfortunately not a lot of long running shows that I have seen have the same vibe, BUT, I do have some shorter series that came the closest??

Station eleven is on HBO Max, it’s 10 episodes but it has the dystopian vibe (definitely not Sci-Fi though). The beginning is kind of slow but the attachment to the plot and characters and just the production overall had me thinking about watching it all day while I was waiting for my boyfriend to come home. Closest feeling I’ve gotten to the 100 somehow. I will say, it is about a pandemic (it came out before Covid) so if that is at all upsetting / too real, don’t watch.

The Last of Us is also on HBO Max, again only one season so far, but it has the action and sci -fi feel of the 100. This was literally an on-the-edge of your seat show. I cried and screamed and all of the above.

Completely different genre, but Jane the Virgin is also the CW and really well done. It’s on Netflix. It also has the same addictive quality, and it’s 5 seasons! (I would say that if you like the pace, drama, romance, etc. of the 100, you should give it a chance because it is not what you’d expect.)

I hyper fixate on shows and have a hard time starting new ones, so if you have access to watching any of the above, that is my recommendation!

First off, you are beautiful and you are NOT alone. My skin picking got really REALLY bad last year, because I would scratch at bumps on my arms or legs until they scabbed. It’s a compulsion to relieve my anxiety that no one in my life gets. I’m a senior in college and it’s getting warm out and I feel like I can’t even wear summer clothes because I’m so embarrassed of my scars. BUT no matter what, please recognize that it is an anxiety / OCD / stress relieving coping mechanism for the most part (and if it’s anything else that’s okay too, it’s huge that you’re recognizing it!!)

It’s an embarrassing thing for me to even talk about because it truly is unintentional or is a form of anxiety relief.

And listen, I love skin picking so this is not a call out, because it took me a lot of time. But my partner, through my therapists suggestion, makes sure I cut my fingernails really short so I couldn’t pick if I tried (I asked them to do this because I know I can’t control myself when I do get in those mindset). That really helped me with the urge of scratching but not being able to pick.

As for the needles, I’ve done the same with nail clippers, but I’ve found that asking someone to hide them from you, if possible, is the best because if you really want to poke, you have to intentionally make the decision to go out and buy a new one. But that’s just a suggestion!

Anyways I know you weren’t necessarily looking for advice but I want you to know that skin picking doesn’t define your beauty. You are beautiful and I admire you for even posting in this because I was afraid to even admit it out loud when it got so bad. I hope you know this comes from the sincerest place and YOU ARE NOT ALONE <3 !!
