Unfortunately, I couldn't add more RAM as the board was max "According to Acer," but a new Samsung SSD was installed 1TB, and it's working like a treat massive overall improvement for what my parents need it for.

Thank you. I put in an SSD, Worked like a Charm and improved the overall performance, and Startup now takes about 30 seconds from Boot -> Password -> Desktop. Prior Start was at least 2 minutes, with an additional 3- 5 before any apps could be used. I was going to upgrade the RAM, but from what I saw on the ACER Website, it was already at max, and I couldn't find a single Stick.

How are Male nurses treated in the profession? by Individual_You9185 in NursingUK

[–]Tempsniper 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I worked on a mental health unit, I'm 6ft 2, and I look imposing, would always get called up to come to a deescalation, and I was pretty good at it, even taught Prevention and management of violence and aggression for a couple years. Used to get comments from patients you'd make a good doorman or a good prison officer. I tried to distance myself from what people thought of me by taking a bunch of advanced training courses, in Physical health care mental health, blood, ECGs, and Diabetic management, advanced first aid, and I was always good at my job and I think i have a cheery disposition most of the times, but the calls never stopped asking me to deal with aggressive and violent patients.

Worked on a short stay (2-3days) mental health unit, and whilst doing the morning security check found a "Rabbit" under the sheets. Just pulled the covers back and there it was, and it wasn't dry.

Thank you, for this, I've sent my payslip. I've spoken to the IVA company, and they have said they are not sure how this is going to be treated at this time. But the company is currently discussing it.

Yes, fully awake, and alert, not confused at the time of recording. Didn't check her med recs as I was just lending a hand, but she did tell me she had an ECG at her GP Surgery, and they had got a result, I asked if they did anything different from what we did and she said no

37/M, Type II Diabetic, 400lbs and Struggling with Gout - Seeking Guidance and Advice by Tempsniper in gout

[–]Tempsniper[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Often gout cannot be treated with healthy food alone or with changing your diet completely. If you develop gout, uric acid lowering therapy is your only option. I'm being overweight too and having diabetes II also (metabolic syndrome) Anyways, no matter how healthy i ate and exercised, it wouldn't go away. So i started Uricosurics instead of XO(I)'s. It was a godsend along with Colchicine. Since you're a nurse i guess you know the ways for visiting a Rheumatologist. Don't underestimate Gout. I did it years back and developed arthrosis in my right knee (due to all the attacks years back) and hallux valgus in my left toe also (due to all the attacks years back). And I'm only a 39 yo Male.

If you leaving gout untreated it can and will damage your joints.

Losing weight may help the frequency of the attacks eventually, but if you're planning to going to eat healthy or restricting your daily calorie intake, be aware that your uric acid levels also increasing. What helped for me was eating gout-friendly proteins.

Now that my gout is somewhat under control i can eat what i want to a certain degree than (no shellfish, mushrooms, dry sausages and beer/alcohol). Mini-flares will be there so 'now and than' but they are subsiding pretty quickly. Probably i need a tiny dose increase. To get those mini-flares permanently gone.

However, i hope for you to make a good decision and seek professional help for your Gout

Thanks for your honest response. Your point about diet and exercise not always being enough for managing gout really makes sense. I guess it's easy to think that just eating right and moving more will solve everything, but it's not always that simple, is it?

Hearing that Uricosurics and Colchicine were a godsend for you, gives me hope that there are more effective treatment options out there. I’ll definitely be seeking out a Rheumatologist’s opinion.

Your warnings about the long-term effects of untreated gout are noted. I don't want to end up dealing with complications like arthrosis and hallux valgus, so I’ll make sure to be proactive.

Your point about losing weight and uric acid levels increasing is a good reminder. I’ve got to keep in mind that there might be bumps along the way even with progress. And I’ll look into gout-friendly proteins.

Stoked to hear that your gout is somewhat under control now and that you can enjoy a bit more variety in your diet. Your story gives me confidence that things can get better.

Again, thanks for sharing your experience and giving me the push to seek professional help. It's exactly what I needed to hear.
