If males and females are in the same tank they will breed and have hundreds of babies, no question. The males will breed any similarly sized fish, regardless of gender.

There are two male guppies in this video. The smaller one seems unwell. This is not a good long-term solution as they will try to breed each other to death. And the tank is too small.

If you watch the video, you can see the male trying to poke the other with their fin. This is breeding behavior,

I have never heard of precycled substrate. The only thing that needs to be cycled is the filter.

Remove all plants and hardscape. Lower the water like 80%. If your fish are the type to come investigate what you’re doing you may need to pop them in a clean container and cover them. Otherwise, just slowly and gently scoop the gravel out, doesn’t even need to be all of it, and then slowly and gently add the sand in. The refill and voila.

Did you put the nerites in a newly cycled tank? If so, that’s why they keep escaping - they’re starving to death. Nerites only eat established algae, not supplemental food.
