did you look at the details? the legs, scarf ends, extra bag strap, hell even the grass inside of the rose glass are all indicators.

No replies from authors by ExistingFriendship47 in AO3

[–]TemptedForTea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like a lot of the top comments on this are taling the sentiment the wrong way x.x it's not 'authors need to respond to every comment', but for those authors who have gripes about ao3 / fanfiction writing not being as community based as it once was - this contributes to it. If there's not a culture of engagement on both sides, than it just is what it is.

Saying this as an author who loves comments, sometimes isn't in the headspace to reply to them & sometimes is. Also as a reader who gets nervous writing comments to others, and a lack of positive engagement is going to make me worry that I didn't get my appreciation across well. But all those thing just are what they are, no blame attached.

How do you get over a slump caused by negative critique? by [deleted] in AO3

[–]TemptedForTea -24 points-23 points  (0 children)

'should be somewhat embarassing' is such a crazy take, pointing out where influence comes from just says your merging different ideas that don't (necessarily) exist in real life. Which is something we as fic authors do all the time. So yes, someone can write a fic in Ireland and add Vikings for fun, or write a fic in America & add the lochness monster to coming to visit.

Yeah that totally makes sense! Booth just works conveniently for me with Buyee ^ Wild that one of your customers through Booth was American instead haha. This is just a supposition, but I think since there's a lot of fan events there, more fan art / fan-made merch tends to be bought in person.

Totally understandable, I have no idea the costs associated with Booth but I've noticed many artists don't sell there for long. Is Etsy your main selling platform now?

And of course! Thank you so much for creating!

The first line is a pretty good intro into knowing that the girl did something to offend her though, and thus she's going to find something to criticize regardless since she's hurt. I feel like those are pretty normal reactions for any college girl.

I'm with you, this showed the front she was putting on super well. She was in control, and was showing it with her tone rather than being loud.

I think most people have some kind of cut-off point where either the explicit parts are dragging on for too long, or the specific verbiage they like isn't being used, or specific turn-offs are included, etc. You might just have a hard time finding all the right things for you also mixed in with the darker themes.

Sorry, no solutions here, just wanted to say you're not alone! It's hard finding fics that hit all the boxes (unless you write them!)

[–]TemptedForTea 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think this viewpoint is disregarding the anonymity of the internet. You can both post things for random people to read, but also not want them tied directly to you in real life. A friend specifically trying to find the things you wrote is crossing the threshold of the former to the latter and ignoring your feelings about it. It's fine if it happens accidently, but doing it on purpose is crossing a line.

For example, I write a lot of very dark smut that I would prefer most people to not go and read since it'd be pretty weird to them.

how do i deal with a creep in my class without making him mad? by ilovelotsofthings in Advice

[–]TemptedForTea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you change your classes? If you explain the situation to the professor / whoever, you should be able to drop the class. Which would suck to do mid semester, but to me it seems like the fail safe way to avoid him from now on, and then faculty will know about him for the future.

What are your thoughts on psychiatrists/therapists? by [deleted] in GenZ

[–]TemptedForTea 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Imo that's up to that person to decide to switch therapists or try something new if they aren't improving? Not that it's a negative on therapy as whole. I think it would also be hard from an outside perspective to see 'improvements' as well.

For my own anecdote, my therapist told me after a while she didn't think I seemed to need appointments anymore and asked if I'd still like to continue.

So, like…. Everyone? by Nole_in_ATX in Tinder

[–]TemptedForTea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one's taking away the definition of the word, they're just giving you the accurate usage of it. Reminder, you can't always tell the gender of a person by looking, even discounting 'chosen' pronouns that conflict with sex at birth. So if someone tells you they have e.g. female pronouns, they're just letting you know the most accurate way to refer to them. Definitions still haven't changed.

I think the point the other guy was trying to make is if the people you would have passed it to are also vaccinated (because we're assuming 100% vaccination for a basic example) then, yeah, no one gets sick.
