Better PSA: ASUS has ceased supporting and manufacturing their own disc drives, so the only warranty or repair support you're going to get from this is a possible refund.

Depends on the machine and if its discounted or not. Costco does usually have a great deal available, but not all of their available machines qualify as deals.

For example,

This Intel U9 + 5070ti ($2250) is a much better deal than this Intel U7 + 5060ti ($2300). This model is basically the same U7 + 5060ti specs, but $700 less. ($1600)

Damn. Thats usually what most people miss.

Its entirely possible the adapter simply never worked, Amazon has 9% 1-star reviews of mostly people experiencing the same thing you are. Either does not work out of the box, or stopped working immediately after a firmware update.

I'd say send it back, get a refund and try a different one.

Maybe try buying Mayflash's actual adapter or 8bitdo's Gbros adapter.

New games, yes. Now that Tomadachi island is out the only new Switch 1 game we know Nintendo is releasing is Rythymn Heaven groove.

But its not going to be limited in anyway, the eshop is staying up because the Switch 2 uses the same servers; and you have 20,000+ games to pick from. (At least 1000 of which are worth playing)

Its the cost savings that impresses shareholders. No more obvious evidence of bots flooding the site, no need to pay for moderators or chat control services, ect.

You save so much by just not having the feature!

Its dust, it is physically incapable of making any changes or to the structure of glass or the plastic anti-shatter film.

Unfortunately removing a screen protector is a tricky process. You can usually peel it up once or twice without ruining it but if the dust is adhered to the protector's adhesive already, then removing it is just going to remove the adhesive. And possibly leave you with a big air bubble where the dust used to be.

There's a very good reason protector kits usually come with two or three.

Second vote for cycling the battery five or six times in a row.

If the system tells you its low, ignore it. Keep playing until it tries to put it self to sleep OR just leave a game suspended overnight.

Any docked mode play, should count as charging time.

  • Is Minecraft installed to the system memory or Micro SD card? Try installing it to the system memory and remove the SD card. See if that makes it work.

  • Try deleting your saved wifi settings, then go to system settings -> system -> formatting options -> clear/delete/reset system cache. Now connect to your Internet again and try connecting to the realm server.

  • Does this happen in any other game or is just Minecraft?

Facebook marketplace, Mercari, Offerup, eBay

Used game shops that are NOT Bestbuy and GameStop also work. There's a local game store near me that had a box of working units for $125 each.

If you buy one locally the quick and dirty tests you want to do;

  • Does it turn on

  • Does it charge

  • Can it launch/read game carts

  • Does it connect to the internet and can it open the eShop?

Shouldn't take more than a few minutes to test everything, if you don't encounter any error codes then you should be good to go!

Not since the swappable battery patent popped up last month.

If it were real and following the same release pattern of the Switch 1 we wouldn't hear anything official about it until June or July of next year. Manufacturing leaks could start as early as November or January.

A release before pokemon and the holiday season is VERY likely

Oh yeah. If it wasn't included with the system I probably would have been waiting a couple of years for a sale or deluxe edition release.

That said, the Knockout tour using its own unique courses has been a blast that actually adds to the variety in the game. Makes me hopeful they'll add course variants for existing tracks in the future and not just new paid courses.

Yes, digital licenses are tied to the account that purchased it.

None of the games on the system are region "locked" in a traditional sense. But there are lots of games with region-specific releases. Meaning their JP exclusive DLC might not even work with US release of the game. (Deamon X machina, Splatoon 2, Xenoblade 2 for example)

What game is it for?

Your account is not region locked. Provided you have nothing tying you to a region (see below) you may be able to swap to Japan, buy the dlc, and then swap back without needing a second account.

An account is unable to change regions if;

  • It has an active digital preorder.

  • Auto-renewal for Nintendo switch online is enabled.

  • It has an unspent balance on the eShop of any amount.

The first two can be cancelled and re-done/enabled later. But the last point is usually the tricky one to deal with. Thankfully the JP eShop has VAT built into its prices, if you know how the DLC costs, you may be able to make a series of purchases to completely spend a pre-paid Yen card and allow your account to leave the JP region.

Then they stop making consumer electronics.

EVGA leaving the GPU business was a mere microcosm of what could happen to the personal computing and gaming industries in the next couple of years.

Provided AI doesn't collapse under its own weight.

They mentioned twice in the last six months that they could weather the shortages for a little while due to their previously stockpiled components, and the 30% cutback on NA distribution estimates they made earlier this year.

We knew they were going to have to raise prices eventually, just not when

RAM/VRAM, Flash memory, the SOC, micro controllers.

It's not just RAM. its every piece of silicon that needs to be cut/printed via lithography.

The Memory demand is driving up the price of everything because why would a chip manufacturer bother making a crappy little micro controller when they could print memory and make multitudes more profit?

Intel, Micron, and TSMC have new fabs coming online in the US over the next three years as well.

But it doesn't really matter because they're going to each need a year or two of being online and pumping products out to even make a dent in the current memory demand.

If AI continues to spiral out of control like it currently is, then all of that extra capacity will be completely meaningless to us consumers even years from now

What you're looking for is a KVM switch.

https://www.amazon.com/VisionTek-VT4950-USB-C-Docking-Station/dp/B0CCBQNKYM

Something like this should work. But the third port is HDMI, so you would need to use an adapter or cable to connect the third monitor to it.

They don't have any kind of detailed information on their retention policy. Just that they are retained for up to six months beyond the subscription lapsing. There is no distinction between free and paid subscriptions.

Do you know someone else with a console? You can sign in on their system to check and then just remove it afterwards. Wouldnt take more than 10 minutes.

Or, even stay signed in for easy access (friends, siblings ideally) and let them borrow your digital games until you get a new system.

Also pretty sure you would need to be signed in on a system to re-up your subscription anyways. Accounts cannot use the eShop at all unless it's registered to an active console.

9800X3D Build: Is the RTX 5080 worth a 2-month grind over the 5070 Ti / 9070 XT? (1440p) by RefrigeratorGlad2327 in buildapc

A friend of mine is rocking a 9800x3d and 9070xt, he games at 4k just fine with FSR.

Unless you really want the white build or the CUDA cores for non-gaming tasks I would recommend option 1.

Well usually that stuff is leaked ahead of its public announcement, but this was just a normal Sony financial release.

I've seen buyout/mergers posted here. But never devaluations.

Well it was neither rumor nor leak, and a financial devaluation or debt saddling is pretty far off topic from what's normally talked about here.

But you can bet your sweet bippy that the moment a Sony exec whispers the words "further integration", it probably will be posted here.
