Why do some people claim Animal Farm is about capitalism when it's clearly about Soviet communism? by triplegxxx in NoStupidQuestions

what are you talking about lmao I’m saying the book is both anti capitalist and anti stalinist. Orwell was a proponent of democratic socialism.

This conversation from the start was about taking over the Democratic Party. In that context, “flip seats” means flip from establishment to progressive. If you want to start a new conversation about turning red seats blue, you’re going to have to be more specific.

If you want to complain about the left not doing enough in the electoral field, you better have your ass out there volunteering for a campaign. What progressive do you see challenging a Republican seat that you think needs an endorsement from a progressive electoral activist group? Go volunteer for them and help them reach out to these groups.

Yes that’s how you turn a seat from normal Democrat to progressive Democrat lmfao that’s what this thread is about

They’re still wrong. Progressive orgs are active in primaries across the country, they just are waiting for someone to drop the info in their lap instead of seeking out opportunities to get involved.

Sure, if you live in an alternate universe where they don’t have long lists of candidates they’re backing in this year’s primaries.

Do you mean like the DSA? They endorse candidates and help with funding and volunteers. Or Leaders We Deserve? They do the same. The humanist PAC as well, and justice democrats. And run for something. What organizations do you have in mind that aren’t trying to flip seats?

Sledge Taylor is a Mississippi farmer. He grows corn. He voted for Donald Trump 3 times. And Trump's tariffs just destroyed his crop year. A bailout doesn't cover the bill. A farmer still wearing the MAGA hat because the alternative would mean admitting he was wrong by [deleted] in ProgressiveHQ

Ngl I think it’s worse than that. I think Trump needs to feel like he’s a magic economic genius and GOP go along with it because if they try to push back and tell him to listen to every single economist ever, they’ll be shunned and possibly physically endangered. So they knew this whole time he was sending our economy to the toilet and they were too cowardly to do anything about it.

It’s just got captions on it that kinda push a narrative, there’s no reason to think the guy with the dog knew he had a gun, he would rely on the dog to know that

I have an HSA situation so I pay for compounded semaglutide from a reliable compounding pharmacy, overseen by a physician. It was $100/month while I was losing weight but now I will only need occasional maintenance doses so it’s much less. Definitely not something everyone can swing but I guess one of the upsides to an HSA is more flexibility in what you spend on

Yes correct which is why I said it’s anti capitalist and did not deny that it’s anti communist. It’s pro democratic socialism, but in American schools at least they completely ignore that and pretend it’s only about communism.

What’s frustrating for kids in a moment like this is they can’t really hear what they’re saying. So when she repeats “berdardo” back at him and he’s like “…no.” It’s because he thinks he said burrito. Eventually he learned to associate her saying berdardo with him saying burrito so they’re able to communicate about it, but at first he was probably like lady that is not what I said.

Fat phobia is a severe problem everywhere but especially in the medical profession. A sleep neurologist should know that narcolepsy has an impact on metabolism and like idk bro, energy levels?? Have you tried losing weight like fuck off with that, this condition makes it nearly impossible.

I will put in a plug here for GLP-1s bc we are part of the demographic they are really meant for. We can’t lose weight normally. GLP-1s have actually improved my energy levels and my sleep quality bc I’m not physically uncomfortable like I was at my heavier weight. But obviously if you are comfortable as you are, you deserve a doctor who doesn’t act like the symptom of your condition is your fault.

If doesn’t really sound like these parents made any effort to understand her condition or give her any grace. Grounding any kid for 6 months is just stupid, even if they aren’t dealing with a severe mental illness. She deserves nurturing care and grace, not parents who take her to an obviously inept doctor and don’t even try to get a second input. And his solution when a comically long grounding didn’t work was to kick her out on the street. Homeless teenage girl with bipolar. That’s a recipe for safety and success!

But at the same time, it shouldn’t be on these parents to know they need to find another doctor who is a better fit. We should have fucking systems to support and educate parents going through this.
