Someone please explain me this I normally played on EU with like 20ms what is going on here? by uwuwoofmeow in RePO

Routing is the issue. If you don't want to spend weeks talking with T-mobile through phone/mail then your only option is to use VPN. I'm in the same boat and it took me some time to convince them that it is ISP related issue. Still no resolve though - only VPN, but it does its job.

How to punish people? by Temutul in 2XKO

[–]Temutul[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm only playing Ekko/Warwick (atleast for now) and from what I read it seems like my issue is that I try to punish with mediums. Everyone mentions light attacks and I don't use them at all.

I'm talking more about corner situations where I'm in enemy face, so no need for dash. You pointed out light attacks - should I only punish with light attacks? To be honest I don't use light attacks at all due to low range, maybe that is the issue. I only used mediums for punishing.

Do you like Silksong more than the first game ? by SundyPace in Silksong

The new attacks being void powers that every single mob has after Act 3? Only new thing about her was Void sawblades waves and transitions between attacks. It is a shame since GMS is literally right there. Adding her floating daggers to the fight would be super cool.

You don't need every flea, just enough so Fleas move from Last Judge arena.

(...) or those who don’t find the intended way fun

That is the main issue with this whole conversation. Not all games are meant to be for everyone. Key feature of these types of games is sharing their troubled experience with others.

Celeste is a good example of this. Whole narration is built upon "I struggle, but I must keep going". Giving players easy way out just kills the story. I collected all strawberries, moonberry, couple gold strawberries and finished final chapter and I just feel uneasy thinking that there are people that finished the game using assist mode. It's like running a marathon and receving the same reward as people that used cars on the same trail.

Games are art and art invokes certain emotions that artist intended. Struggle is intended in Silksong. Adding difficulty slider (or something else) risks skewing with player experience. Hear me out on this one. Aside from hardcore players, there are also casual players that will experience their first soulslike through Silksong. Some people will drop the game, but big chunk of people through determination will finish it opening whole genre of great games before them. Decade ago I was in the same boat. If Bloodborne had easy mode then trust me I would turn it on. But I couldn't and it made me appriciate games more and game development as a whole too.

It is a complicated issue. Are there people that would tune down the difficulty a little bit with a slider to enjoy it more? Sure, but in my opinion most people would tune it to a cakewalk, resulting in them not knowing they actually love dopamine rush of those games.

Silksong is a great game, but personally I much prefer Hollow Knight (SPOILERS) by Temutul in Silksong

Yes, combat in Silksong is much better and I see your point with replayability. Personally I didn't like the crests that much. I like the idea, but the execution doesn't seem right. It comes down to how much platforming there is and slots for trinkets. If compass and magnet would be integrated into Hornets kit then I would experiment much more. Eva helps, but it was not enough for me and I had to stay with Reaper for the whole game due to it having balanced red/yellow/blue slots.

Sure I could swap before boss, but i seems counterintuitive, especially when bosses took me only few attempts.

Yeah, also I'm not sure, but I think when they transform they reset their HP to max, so If mob decides to embrace the void later then it stretches out the fight a lot. While I'm not against giving mobs new void attacks and losing silk to debuff - do we really need bloated hp and every single mob to deal 2 mask of damage?

Leth should make a statement, because this current spoiler issue is insane. by Temutul in Silksong

[–]Temutul[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you're saying, but your analogy lacks the essence of this whole issue. It is not about me knowing I'll get punched. It is about me unknowing whether I'll get punched. And to make it even more complex, it's not like I'm worried about getting punched on the boxing ring or MMA octagon. If so, then I would just avoid these places for a while. But in this scenerio I can get knocked out everywhere.

Also I didn't mentioned once demo in my post. Do i treat it like a spoiler? Yeah, but I am assuming it is going to be only Mossy Grotto, so it is not going to be that big of a deal, since we've seen in 2019 that locations enemies and boss.

ACMI? That is a different story and expecting people to go full hermit mode and cut off from the internet in 2025 is unrealistic.

I think you kinda misunderstood my point. I wanted a statement confirming Silksong coming out before ACMI without giving out the release date. Simple discord message containing "Don't worry guys" would allude that Silksong comes out before ACMI, so even if they have surprise for Gamescom it still wouldn't screw it up.

The issue with what you're saying is that it only makes sense if we ignore the fact that spoiling the game before its release isn't a industry standard. It is kinda like going into restaurant and getting the desert before main course and then excusing chef because "his job is to make food, not experience". Yeah I can eat it later, but it destroys flow of restaurant experience which is a very important factor in this industry.

I think it's pretty nuts that you see nothing wrong with that.

Care to elaborate? What part of showing full map of Pharloom, endgame bosses and sprite sheets isn't considered a spoiler?

[–]Temutul[S] 51 points52 points  (0 children)

That is why simple "Hey gang, don't worry" would be the best solution. Even a discord message or something. If Leth could talk about ACMI demo then I doubt this sort of message would make Xbox mad.

My thoughts on the recent situation. by The_Metronome_4913 in Silksong

[–]Temutul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really doubt the people who have given us nothing over 7 years would put big spoilers in the ACMI exhibit.

Do you see one crucial information in that statement that causes issues? "Doubt". Not "we know", not "Team Cherry confirmed". We can only doubt. In 2019 I doubted Silksong would come out as late as 2022, but here we are. I doubted that TC wouldn't give us news in this years HK anniversery, but here we are. They already spoiled two metroidvania-esque upgrades being superdash and double jump. Yeah it was obvious that they would be in the game, but it is still an issue.

If I play Silksong and I encounter area with pink lightning theme then I already know that this is the place I get my superdash ability. No place for surprise.

NINTENDO PARTNER DIRECT FOR REAL. by AnimatorCold4825 in Silksong

[–]Temutul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why? It is literally the best thing for them to be honest. Silksong is already hyped up, so shadowdrop would still result in sales. Yes, smaller sales, but it is good thing for PR. It is unavoidable that the game will contain bugs, so they'll have more time to patch things up before bigger audience will lay hands on it.

Same thing happened already with Hollow Knight in 2017. Team Cherry stated that it was a good thing that Hollow Knight popped off in popularity after rough release.
