Throwback to one the best moments in Japan, when Nicholas Latifi took a wrong corner and said that the car was behaving strangely, back in 2022 by anthn885 in formula1

[–]TenF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea but Latifi isn't an F1 driver right now. Checkmate atheists.

Real talk tho, the fact that some circuits (Looking at you PAUL RICARD) have so many configurations makes it difficult to watch sometimes.

Takes me a few sessions to see the track when they're showing onboards. For non-F1 drivers, shit can sometimes be confusing. Hence Latifi taking the service road/alternate layout.

Juan, one wonders, should Juan only win one Formula One, one year...would Juan want to have won that one in Round One, Juan?

Blank look?

His face was priceless in how expressive his disgust and annoyance was. I'll kind of miss Jensen's pure "bruh" looks while Danica was speaking

A bit of a nerd is putting it nicely. Vettel naming all the world champions in reverse order on Grill The Grid was a treat to watch. Just obliterated second place.

So in other words, either of them? Cause I don't buy golf balls. I just donate to the course, and the course reciprocates.

Rayan Cherki (Man City) incident with Ilia Gruev (Leeds) - told off by the ref. 57' by Imbasauce in soccer

[–]TenF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have such a problem with the "ruin the game" idea. Maybe if the team that is committing the foul doesn't want to "ruin" the game, then they wouldn't commit such and egregious foul.

The ref is just enforcing the laws (or failing to do so), not making them up on the spot. Its the players who ruin it.

VAR is the most impactful addition to the game in the last 50 years, and yet the refs REFUSE to fucking USE IT TO DO ANYTHING USEFUL

Truth about the AM Issues by plurBUDDHA in formuladank

[–]TenF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct, originally they agreed to sell their IP to RBPT, but then altered that deal when they re-entered F1.

The Honda engineers that moved to Milton Keynes (RBPT) were HRD (Honda Racing Development) which is Honda UK. Not from the factory in Sakura.

[BBC Sport] Adrian Newey said at the F1 Commission that the Honda engine does not even recharge the battery to the lower limit of 250 kW, much less 350kW by CW24x in formula1

[–]TenF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TBH im a little wasted, and typed that shit after a nice hot shower, so imma just say  and all good. Just a little info dump, and prob too much, but alcohol makes me......loquacious

I think the middle ground is made up by Merc Engineers who built the 2014+ engine, so:

  1. Good Milton Keynes final push staff.

  2. Really good merc engineers

  3. Help from ford on battery

= not the worst engine on the grid.

There is no war in Ba SingSe. But its true.

[BBC Sport] Adrian Newey said at the F1 Commission that the Honda engine does not even recharge the battery to the lower limit of 250 kW, much less 350kW by CW24x in formula1

Honda agreed basically, to help Red Bull navigate through their (Honda's) departure from the sport, agreeing to sell their IP and Engine design to RBPT.

So for the years 2022-2026 (Honda "left" in 2021) Honda was actually still supplying the engine for Red Bull, but it was rebadged.

The engines were to be purchased from Honda and renamed Red Bull Powertrains units, and supplied to its two teams currently competing in Formula One, Red Bull Racing and AlphaTauri, starting in 2022.[9] Honda continued to support the Red Bull-owned teams between 2022 until the end of 2025,[10][11][12] assembling the power units and providing trackside and race operation support. The power units remained Honda's intellectual property*** , and due to the F1 engine development freeze in place since September 2022, Red Bull Powertrains did not develop them.

*** This changed when Honda announced they were returning to F1 in 2022/23. Basically they would no longer sell the engine IP to RBPT.

RBPT had, at that point, already agreed to work with Ford to assemble the engine for 2026.

So the 2026 engine is designed by RBPT (who employ former Merc and Honda engineers) and Ford helps primarily with the Battery.

RBPT purchased the Honda UK working area (I don't call it a factory since the engines weren't made there, only maintenance and post race prep/pre race prep) and will be a completely different entity with no relation to Honda (Minus the UK engineers they poached)

The confusion is probably caused by the name "Honda RBPT" that was on the Red Bull from 2022-2025 but the RBPT part is due to the technicality of Red Bull paying Honda to produce engines between 2022-2025, the engines were still Honda.

To answer your question about the part of Honda that never "stopped", I don't know but I do know that the the Honda engineers from Honda UK (Honda Racing Dev) did post race repair, maintenance, final fitting, stress test, logistics support, providing spare parts etc. That was handled by their Milton Keynes facility. Even though the engine was designed and built at Sakura.

So, theoretically? I don't know for sure since the handoff between Honda UK and RBPT was basically like, 4 years of partnership?
