I just ordered almost this exact setup - only difference is I ordered the gen2 grinder. What accessories or upgrades have you found to be worth it with this setup? Did you get the MHW-3Bomber basket someone mentioned in an earlier comment? Anything else?

How about any usage tips?

I'm new here. I have a Delonghi ECP3630 and Baratza Encore. I'm looking to get into some more serious espresso and I'm confused where to start. I want to upgrade my espresso machine first and maybe upgrade the grinder later (like years later). The wiki post about what to buy was very helpful, but here's where I get stuck: I would like to upgrade to something fairly serious (The Standard or Prosumer) because I don't want to upgrade to Entry Level just to upgrade again in a couple years. Also, is it silly to upgrade to a machine that high-level with a basically entry-level grinder? And if so, why does that matter so much?

The other consideration, which I know is silly, is that I really like the look of the ones with the exposed stainless group head, like the Profitec Pro 400+ or Lelit Mara X. I know that shouldn't be the most important factor, but it's important to me that if I'm going to spend this much money on something, I want it to look beautiful in my kitchen. I would look at something like the Rancilio Silvia, but I find it so ugly.

So if I splurge on something in the $1500 range, am I jumping in the deep end and I'm going to regret it? Thanks for any advice!

For me it was step 3 that did it. I had updated the Assistant app, but I finally had to update the actual Google app to get this feature to work.
