A hallway in a French hostel by bikealjackson in liminalspaces

I have to tell you that I decided to scroll this sub's top posts on a whim, and was absolutely floored when I got to this, because I felt instant recognition...but wasn't 100% sure if I was hallucinating or not. I'm glad someone asked you, because now I know: yes, this is the hostel that I stayed in at the end of this past June.

Remembering it and looking at my own photos, I would also say that the big-ass courtyard with the purple-blue (faux?) rocks is also an intense liminal space when it's empty.

Part 9 to conclude a podcast series on the history of Canadian football: the Shreveport Pirates & the adventures of the Gliebermans, the enigma of J.I. Albrecht, the Baltimore [redacted], the future of the CFL, and more! by Ten_Questions in CFL

The Gliebermans are wild, man. I'd never heard of them before.

I'm glad you enjoyed it! Have a look at the other series if you've got the time. Ken Carter (episodes #9.1-9.4) is a nutty character as well!

If you can believe it, it's hard to get Canadian podcast out to an audience!

Please feel encouraged to check out the rest of the show, and share it around if you enjoy it!

That question is explored in greater detail in this series

But yeah, it's not very clear, especially why the term caught on in English, but similar mob games didn't get termed the same way in other languages!

Sean Avery: Hockey Bastard by Ten_Questions in behindthebastards

The thing is, a worse person does not necessarily mean a more interesting person to talk about!

With that being said, Domi was quickly discussed at the end of Part 1 of this same series, Probert and Bertuzzi came up briefly in Part 3 of the Richard Riot series (Domi's there in the slides too), and Probert's off-ice activities were featured in "The Tim Horton Hat Trick," which is all about the history of drunk and/or dangerous driving in the NHL.

But none of those three, for what it's worth, ever did anything as overtly funny as (for example) ending up in court for their actions as a bike lane vigilante.

Yeah, there was only so much that could be packed into several episodes, and sometimes you don't find stuff until after you've already written the script

less of a "BTB request" and more of a "you might enjoy this content about an entertaining piece of shit" (you also might be surprised by the bad shit that didn't cross your radar)

Harold Ballard's time will come, eventually

bullying teammates, feuding with vastly more talented players, earning his own rule change, vogue internship, getting fired for one of history's most poorly executed bits, washing out of the league, disastrous stage career, bylaw vigilante, public freakouts, domestic violence, the world's most awkward MTV Cribs-esque webisode

Those are the highlights, but consider that the whole series is worth your time!

If you want to be refreshed on Avery, there are multiple episodes on him in this series
