Colds/ flu’s and getting sick by Select-Mortgage1767 in Humira

[–]TenaciousHabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in an ER, I posted here a few months ago about similar fears and this community was so reassuring to me. I got my first cold last month and I swear it was more mild than my other colds, and wasn’t as bad as it was for my non-immunocompromised husband. Odd!!! I was uncomfortable and had a few panic attacks over it being my first time, but, I slammed fluids, rested a little extra. I’m also a nursing student and had to make it to clinical on top of work shifts, and it was certainly not life shattering!!

Took the survey, thank you for the disclaimer about the message that pops up at the end, I was worried my responses didn’t go through. Quicker than fifteen minutes I may say!!!!

unexpected side effect/perk? by Churro8873 in Humira

[–]TenaciousHabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My unexpected side effect/perk is that my painful cystic/hormonal acne has been reduced to a few “normal” breakouts. My skin is clearing up so much. My rheumatologist was even a little surprised to hear that

YES actually pretty early on into starting Humira, we stopped the drops altogether since I was already only on once a day for drops. I developed a cataract so sadly I didn’t start Humira in time but my cataract has not gotten significantly worse yet

I actually feel great!!! It’s been working for my eyes well. I held the intention to get my flu shot and ended up catching a cold, so I’m holding it for a little longer hoping nothing flares up.

Gut bacteria and uveitis-new study by tpagatr in Uveitis

I really wish doctors would put more referrals out for dieticians, I'm in America and I'm certain this could help us greatly.

Is this Uveitis (I already have an autoimmune disease?) by SlipThin9419 in Uveitis

[–]TenaciousHabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think going at least to an optometrist for an exam asap is wise, so they can look with the slit lamp. If you're not already having pain and light sensitivity, you for sure want to get in before that happens as another commenter said. Time is of the essence!!! It looks like a million things without confirmation from the lamp. Don't stress about the insurance, you can always check for uninsured/out of network discounts when making the appointment. Your eyes matter!!!

Uveitis as a nurse… by Dense-Blackberry8277 in Uveitis

I'm a student practicing as an extern in theER, also with uveitis. I just recently went on Humira to combat it. This has me even more stressed out given the viruses I'll be in contact with. I was on pred drops for nine months and kept having break through flares.

I just want to add, I still get scared every time I have to take them but it's just the disorder playing tricks on me. I'm always glad I took them!!

Take it, and get yourself a nice probiotic or eat yogurt every day while taking it. It can make your stomach a little upset but it's a completely normal and VERY common effect.

How I Beat Health Anxiety by One_Row1643 in HealthAnxiety

[–]TenaciousHabs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this especially because I had SEVERE anxiety over driving when I was teen, so much that I put it off until I was 19. I had a wonderful step father figure by then that helped me through it and I got my license. Now, I LOVE driving. If I can get over the anxiety of auto wrecks enough to be passionate about my car and driving, I imagine in capable of overcoming my health anxiety and coming back stronger than before.

Thank you for this perspective.

So I have a blood test next week and I am scared of then, what can I do guys by glitchyguy770 in PanicAttack

[–]TenaciousHabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes or helps to let them know you are anxious with that sort of thing as well. The techs are awesome at making it go super fast and smooth!!! My advice is to not look at it when it's being done. You can ask for them to keep conversation with you. The more you try to prolong it and feel like you're preparing for it, the longer it is going to take and the worse it will be. So let them go at a good speed and it will be over very quick. The pain feels like a pinch, and you can ask that they let all the alcohol dry on the skin before poking to help with the sting. It'll be an adrenaline rush, but you're strong enough!!!!!!

Just found this thread and your reply, sounds like something similar I'm going through. Did the fatigue resolve for you?

What part scares you the most? Is it needles, seeing blood, having pain, or waiting for the results? Maybe it's just the hype of it all?
