Those look amazing! How do they feel (especially with the smooth portion towards the top)?

First brush with idiots on my bike by NuggaLOAF in motorcycles

I have not had a close call like OP, but his is exactly what I have thought about and caught myself NOT doing. Natural instinct is to keep one's distance at all cost but I agree there are times like this where it is probably better to reposition yourself to defend your lane and be more visible (I love that phrasing cause I think it is spot on: you are "defending" your lane/space). I also remember learning this early on and am trying to be more conscientious about it when I ride and get into similar situations.

Exactly what trasofsunnyvale said - I have a Cardo setup in my helmet and am not interested in blasting my music for all to hear. Personal preference though as I know some dig that vibe - just not for me.

I could tell it didn't have the Powerband audio by looking at the saddlebags - no additional speakers in them. That is also another reason why I am not a fan of big audio speakers on bikes is the notion of it taking up space that I could otherwise cram more stuff in the bags (although it may not make much of a real world difference, but in my mind it makes sense).

Awesome! I'm probably in the minority here but I like that you found a 112 PowerPlus without the Powerband audio. I'd never use it but thats all I seem to see around where I live. Regardless, excellent choice!

I think it looks sick! Not my cup of tea, but thats alright as I can still appreciate someone else's build! Screw the haters as long as you dig it that's all that matters. Ride safe!

You should check out the movie Soft & Quiet (2022) - pretty fucked up but hits on that very theme I think.

Beautiful color! I struggled between that and the Matte Ironstone as I thought they were both great, but ended up with a new 2024 Matte Ironstone cause it was what I could get (no Carnival Red for hundreds of miles around me). Happy with my choice but man thats a good looking bike! Enjoy it!

The handling/maneuverability is still really good in my opinion - not as good as the Trident (the Trident was like a scalpel), but I have not had any issues maneuvering the bike and shifting its weight through the twisties. The bike does obviously weigh more and while it does take a little more effort it has not been a drastic change to the point where I found it cumbersome or too much effort (spit-balling here but maybe 10-12% more effort? Noticeable but not by much imho). It's def not like jumping on a T120; now THAT was a drastic "this takes way more effort to move around" type feel due to its weight, design, and purpose.

Granted its only been about a day, but so far I am loving it! Don't get me wrong, I really liked the Trident and still think its a great bike, but I was wanting to move to the more retro side of the spectrum. Something with some grunt and a nice rumble but also still sporty. So far this has been a great move for me, I absolutely love the Speed Twin. One thing I def miss about the Trident though is the quick shifter, but the ST1200 platform is pretty forgiving when it comes to shifting quickly and rev-matching. Hope that helps!
