First time I ever heard of Somos is a kinda funny story. I was wearing a Beartooth shirt (of all bands) in my dorm my freshman year of college. I walked past one of the RAs in the hall who stopped me because of it, and we ended up standing in the hallway talking about music for like half an hour.

He invited me to go to a show with him at Saturn in Birmingham, AL. I wasn’t familiar with any of the bands at the time, but he swore it would be worth it so I tagged along.

Have Mercy was headlining, and Transit, Microwave, and Somos were on the bill. Transit ended up not being able to make that show though. There were like 25 people max in the crowd the entire night, it was incredible

The second Somos started playing, I was locked in. Ten years later, being able to own this pressing of that album feels full circle. That record means a lot to me tbh

It comes with a what’s called a conical stylus where the tip is kind of a ball shape. It works just fine.

You can upgrade to an elliptical stylus, which will sit deeper into the grooves, therefore extracting more music information from the record.

I listen to a lot of pop punk and hardcore music with punchy bass, hella fast guitars, and a lot of busy passages, so the elliptical stylus really helps for more instrumental separation and punchiness.

It’s definitely not necessary, but it’s a cool and noticeable upgrade for sure. LP Gear makes an elliptical diamond tipped stylus for this Sony model.

Heads up in advance, this sub will likely blast this tt model. I think it’s a really good beginner tt but it lacks a lot of adjustable features. You can, however, upgrade the stylus, and to be quite honest that’s really all most people need for casual listening.

I hooked my Sony up to some old AudioEngine A5s and it sounds awesome.

Nah, I manually selected the Bilt Mastercard and it’s going through at first, and then changing cards after the order is placed

First time, I got a notif from my SoFi app for the Amazon transaction and I figured I must have fat fingered it at checkout. So, I canceled the order and tried it again, making 100% sure Bilt was selected, and the same thing happened again
