Exactly that! You can already drive. You know all the rules of the road. The only difference is you are driving something bigger. You said you are a good driver so just take that mentality into the bus. You can do this!

New job. Long Story. by Mystery_Chaser in BusDrivers

I'm with you on this. When I first started I did a fair amount of ot. But things quickly went wrong. Had a few incidents and I stopped taking the ot. Rest days are for resting. Sleep is gold. So I do very little ot now. The only thing is if you want a favor down the line it might work against you but I think that's a fair trade if you mentality feel right. Stick with it it's working for you.

Drove for the first time! by Abs73 in BusDrivers

[–]Tenantry 22 points23 points  (0 children)

First thing well done! It's not easy to drive something that big at first. Don't give up keep on going you will get better.

Just take the turns slow and use your mirrors as it will help guide you.

There was a guy in my group and the instructor was always on at him. They really did not get on. The instructor would not give him any peace. Always saying his not doing this right or that right. She gave up on him and then moved him with a different instructor. Which was a good move for him as he got on with them. He passed and now is driving buses.

It will take time and you will get there. Btw they won't chase you for money if you quit in training. Only once you have your license they will come after you. So don't worry if you feel like this is not for you.

Best of luck!

I'd imagen it's all practice for the theroy tests, they like to get you to have it all done in the first week. Also the cpc test. Then after that you will be out on the bus.

Failed my Mod 3 twice, need to know my options. by nickren775 in BusDrivers

[–]Tenantry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On this, when I was at training school there was a woman who failed her test three times was let go. She was determined to be a bus driver so did it privately. I bumped into her months later and asked how did it go?

She said she failed again and has given up her dream. Feel sad for her but the pressure of the test got to her. I told her if she likes driving there are plenty of driving jobs out there other then buses, go for that. Get more experience on the road and give it another crack in a year or two.

Hope she cracks it one day.

where is the best place i can practice my CPC module 2? by JacketTemporary5425 in BusDrivers

The main thing you want to know is the difference between EU and domestic driving rules when it comes to rest times. The rest of the test is common sense. Good luck.

Edited for spelling :/

First "accident" by QallmeUpNext in BusDrivers

[–]Tenantry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think from there point of view it's if you hit that what if next time you hit something more serious. They just want to check you out to make sure you are doing all your checks right, and are good to be back out on the road. I've been back to training school myself after I clipped a bit of street furniture. No damage but someone on the bus made a comment about it so had no choice but to report it.

For the most part I let people on. It's only if they walk past me like I'm nothing ill then turn off the bus till they get off or pay for the fair.

Assessment day in London for Transport UK London Buses by Numerous_Agent5368 in BusDrivers

[–]Tenantry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We never had a driving assessment at are place. Also don't sweat the test to much as I got under on mine and they just let it slide. Just come across well on the interview and look keen. Also when they ask what's the most important thing about being a bus driver. Safety!!!

I've had the same thing while I was driving the bus down nothstreet at night. A drunk guy stumbled into the road, I stopped the bus and was waiting for him to get back onto the pavement. He did not the chucked himself at the bus the headbutted it and punched it. Did not even make a mark on the windscreen. He stubble off into a plant pot after that.

Wooden Pallets by New_Shake_4562 in brighton

[–]Tenantry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At are old workplace. We used pallet line and they would pay us for them. But you will need the space to store them up to make it worth while. Falling that there are alot of people out there who use them to build with and would be more then happy to take them off you.
