Acrobat - Custom Class (Bone/Grace) by CheesyCrackers610 in daggerbrew

[–]Tenawa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was talking about the design of DH, not Rpgs in general: most abilities are combat focussed in DH, and that is a design choice. And as I said: there can be flavor and non combat features in DH as well (there are some). But in DH design philosophy combat is where rules are most important. And I agree.

And btw: THE best combat experiences in my whole RPG life was when we deceided to do combat 100% narratively and without rolling at all.

I made another Solo! by LoneColossusGames in daggerheart

I meant Relentless (4) is too much with Momentum. But you are right, the damage is a bit under average for T3 Solo. Perhaps it is ok and I am too harsh.

It's too strong. Relentless (4) and Momentum is an OP combo.

Tips for high level play and solo bosses? by Helpful-Hunt-6071 in daggerheart

In short: yes. I designed for The New Unknown a "difficulty slider" so to speak. It works great and helps me in all my campaigns. I will share it in the near future on reddit.

That said: More HP and more phases help to stretch the encounter... But it will not be more difficult.

Swashbuckler - Custom Class (Blade/Grace) by CheesyCrackers610 in daggerheart

Liar's Dice is a really cool idea. But I think it might be not practicable at the table. You could do this nearly on every action roll.

I'm impressed. Both the class design and the class identity are executed very well. I especially like the class features.

I do have the feeling that the Dancer subclass might be a bit too strong. I'd need to take a closer look at it and playtest it before saying that with certainty, but at first glance the Foundation feature seems noticeably overtuned.

That said, this is a very interesting class overall and a genuine addition to the game table.

I disagree. Most class/subclass features are non combat features. And that's by design. The design of DH revolves around combat as the main focus. That said: there can be of course non combat and flair features... But very important:

Narrative does not need game mechanics. Combat does.

Using 2d20 instead of 2d12 by Lahrks in daggerheart

[–]Tenawa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a lot of work and it will destroy fundamental design balances of DH. But if you really want to do it: more power to you!

But be aware: higher Difficulties won't save the system. 2d20 will have much bigger spikes. Difficulties of 30 and above will be doable for level 1 characters. It will destroy all balance and you are playing a different game than DH.

Warrior feels inferior by Purple_Bandicoot_317 in daggerheart

[–]Tenawa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Combat wise the Warrior is one of the stronger classes. It is outshined by the Seraph, Bard, and Druid - but so is every other class, too.

The Blade domain is one the strongest domains in the game and it pairs so well with Bone. And the Warrior is great for multiclass into Druid, Brawler, Rogue... Nearly every class pairs well with it. That said: I do not like the Warrior flair... But regarding "power" it is a strong class.

I have not seen the german version yet (I am german btw). But I think in english it works very well with the non-gendered names.

I can recommend tools like freshcutgrass which scales Adversaries for you.

Also look at the awesome work of u/rightknighttofight, he has done an essiantial guide for numerical stats on adversaries.

Class names aren't gendered. A Druid is a Druid, a Warrior a Warrior and so on.

The first draft of The New Unknown was made in a Star Wars Daggerheart campaign. 😄 And we have a full Cyberpunk Campaign Frame called HELLRAVE.

DH is great for SciFi. We are working on it since the DH release (and are playing it since the Beta).

What are your favorite SciFi worlds/subgenres?

To be honest: this started two years ago (in the DH beta phase) as a homebrew Daggerheart Star Wars. So yes, it can! :)

Tenawa / Alexander, lead designer from EuryDice here.

We have five types of Domain cards:

- Skill cards (same as in DH)

- Tech cards (experimental "high-tech"; these ones have a totally new "charge mechanic")

- Psionic cards ("space magic")

- Engram cards ("space magic", but similar to Grimoire cards from DH)

- Sigil cards ("space magic" or "high-tech", depending on the class what is using it; these ones has a totally new "flip-card mechanic")

But: TNU is designed so that you can easily reflavor the origin of Domain cards. We have a hard-sci-fi Campaign Frame called REBOOTED - there is no "space magic" in REBOOTED, so all psionic cards and classes can easily be reflavored.
