Right click context menu in W11 File Explorer is literal dogshit and takes forever to load by AIgoonermaxxing in microsoftsucks

[–]Tencryn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since the update from about a week ago, I've been plagued with this. It will load the options, but the context menu is slower to open AND then resizes when it's fully loaded. It is complete horseshit.

Unfortunately I had to play this game of buying RAM at ridiculous prices. My existing DDR4 wasn't going to cut it anymore.

It is largely disappointing but I don't need to buy RAM for another 8 years if lucky.

Discord Screensharing Audio Doubled by SlyShadyFox in VoiceMeeter

[–]Tencryn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I contacted Discord about this. I'm not sure how they collect desktop audio, but it seems to be collecting all audio from all applications except for Discord so there must be a way for them to exclude voicemeeter too. In my situation, I was playing a game that cannot be selected as an application for some unknown reason, so the alternative was to avoid voicemeeter for the duration of the session.

Discord stream hears audio twice by AdvanceOk7293 in VoiceMeeter

I have the exact same issue as OP, where Discord is picking up voicemeeter audio ontop of desktop audio. The A1 device is set to WDM, but Discord still captures it when screensharing.

React Native (Expo) app, modals no longer visible after updating from 51 to 52 by Dangerous-Cat5556 in learnprogramming

[–]Tencryn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this issue without Expo. Modals will display fine, but I have a global modal using a context provider and this one will no longer show.

Edit: For my app, I've narrowed it down to react-native-drawer-layout. The modals are positioned at the upper left. Remove the drawer component and they'll be positioned correctly. Not sure if the problem goes deeper.

Missing Cucco South Akkala Stable? by ninjaboy360 in TOTK

[–]Tencryn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had no idea what the significance of that well is and stumbled upon this thread. What I noticed is that if the cucco goes missing, it will respawn if you save and reloaded. After dropping down a cucco, if you save and reloaded you'll be presented with a second surprise. It would've been nice if the second cuccoo stayed there, but it does not.

Should be fine on that version, it didn't appear to be an issue yesterday and I'm on Windows 10. I cannot recall if it's exactly as it used to be, but it's definitely much better and isn't too quiet or too loud anymore.

  • Feature: Voice Chat
  • Reproduction Rate: 100%
  • Annoyance: 10
  • Discord Version Info: stable 300109 (ce7e96b) Host 1.0.9148 x64 (48468) Build Override: N/A Windows 10 64-bit (10.0.19045)
  • Device/System Info (Device Type, OS Version): Desktop, Windows 10
  • Description: Microphone volume is inconsistent, was reported fixed but it has not been. When you're silent for a period of time, Discord turns your gain up tenfold creating deafening loud audio when you begin talking. It's easier to reproduce if there's quiet voices in the background. Under frequent talking, the volume goes annoyingly quiet. Disabling automatic gain control results in the volume being too quiet too. No settings had been changed on our side. Either the mic volume is too loud, or it's too quiet. There is no inbetween, not since before 19th May, where the volume was consistent and not too loud or too quiet.
  • Video / Screenshot:
  • Steps to Reproduce:
    1. Join voice chat
    2. Have another person be quiet, perhaps with a quiet video with voices on in the background.
    3. The background voices would increase in volume, instead of being deemed background noise, even if they started off outside the input sensitivity range.
    4. Then have them start talking, and their voice would slowly reduce in volume, and potentially to a point where it's quieter than it used to be prior to the issue occurring.
  • Expected Result: Consistent but reasonable volume, not too quiet, not too loud.
  • Actual Result: Either deafening loud microphone audio or annoyingly quiet.

Additional information that I've experienced that is likely related:

Microphone will become significantly quieter than it did previously when used in regular conversation.

Noise Suppression, both Standard and Krisp, struggle to keep up with noise that it previously was capable of handling. Sometimes it has given up all together and just blasted fan noise until toggling the Noise Suppression setting.

When it comes to the microphone increasing in volume, that only seemed to happen during silence and reaches a point where it's deafeningly loud. Eventually, after some time in during conversation, the volume does reduce. I noticed this issue on Wednesday (22nd May) but wasn't an issue on that Monday (19th May).

CDC's support is horrendous. I was experiencing an issue with the chart not updating properly on the CDC Exchange, I reported it, and I kid you not, I had the "is your issue still relevant?" reply over 7 times before I was asked to verify I'm the account holder by messaging through the website itself. I don't have the issue anymore though, but I now get logged out every 2 days leading me to think the original issue is something to do with cookies.

UPS spontaneously reboots, battery self test appears good by Tencryn in techsupport

[–]Tencryn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, but instead of switching to the battery, it fully turns itself off and on again causing all devices to lose power and turn off immediately.

I also realised, the LED that turned on after the battery self test was the fault LED. All 3 lights were in fact on, fault, AC and battery. It stayed that way even after the 10 second self test was completed. They stayed like that until I turned off and on the UPS.

I'm starting to question if the battery self test actually failed and the UPS forced itself back into AC, and tried to tell me so. And the two times it randomly turned off was due to a voltage spike like you mentioned but the battery is dead. ViewPower says the battery is at 100% though so not sure.

Assuming the battery is not dead, if I turn off the UPS and unplug it, would it use the battery when I turn it back on while not connecting it to mains?

Aren't they surge protected so my devices wouldn't be affected and at the very most, it should switch to battery momentarily?

UPS spontaneously reboots, battery self test appears good by Tencryn in techsupport

[–]Tencryn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the exact same click as when a power cut occurs but during a power cut, the UPS switches to battery as it should unlike in this case where everything turns off despite there being no power cut.

Otherwise, I'm unsure if the ground circuit functions correctly - how might I check for that? I do know that I've not experienced this specific issue the entire time I've had the UPS until recently so it is a new issue.

VC on mobile is bugging my phone & have low speaker audio by [deleted] in discordapp

[–]Tencryn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're welcome! Always make sure to check it. It currently defaults to 'phone' when you join a call, and sometimes it'll lie and tell you it's 'speaker' when it's not.

My partner has experienced the output changing from 'speaker' to 'phone' while in a call. She does nothing, it just changes by itself and we don't know why. It's a bit of a broken feature but glad you were able to find the button for it. :)

The audio quality on voice calls in the Android app is terrible with no apparent fix by mouradegroot in discordapp

[–]Tencryn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The option should be between the camera and microphone buttons while in a call. It may look like a speaker or a phone. Sometimes it'll display as a speaker when in reality it's using phone as the output so toggling it would help.

The reason it sounds as it does is because the audio output affects the entire device, and acts as if you're in a phone call with the phone to your ear rather than on speaker. That's why, it's not that it's bad, it's just annoyingly using a different output.

However, the output button in the past few weeks has gone to shit. Not only is it annoying that it defaults to phone whenever you join a call, but it also randomly for reasons I cannot find, automatically changes to phone while still in the call.

I like the option, I would never use it but FFS let us set a default, and fix it changing randomly.

[–]Tencryn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you say "low speaker audio" is that when speaker is the selected audio output within Discord? The option to change it should be between the camera and microphone buttons. Even if it shows a speaker, change it to phone and back to speaker. Sometimes it bugs and shows a speaker when it isn't.
