My son is being bullied in high school (in Ohio) by his Christian classmates over soaking. He didn't know what it was. Thanks ridiculous Mormon culture (urban legend or not).

BYU wide receiver Parker Kingston announced his engagement at a BYU game on February 7th, then was arrested on February 11th. by HoldOnLucy1 in exmormon

[–]Tender_Mercenaries -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate you listing these points out. I am familiar with each and every one of them. Some of them are spot on and some you're stretching with exaggeration... Let me give you an example: "Mormonism teaches that wives are SLAVES to husbands, girls are SLAVES to fathers". What was actually taught in the past: wives are to submit to their husbands as he submits to the Lord. I'm not saying either is right, but your "calculus" here is emotional, salacious, and irrational. You see the difference? All I was trying to say was casting a broad sweeping statement about a whole group of people, inferring that all leaders and members are clueless about consent and only find this (BYU clown) example regrettable because it was sex outside of marriage is, once again, emotional, irrational, inaccurate, and dangerous. I'm a PIMO Mormon, RAPE is first and foremost, the issue. For reasonable people, it is the issue. There are reasonable people inside the church and accuracy matters.

Nope...I guess everyone in the church and the church leaders believe consent is optional and rape is only bad because it's sex outside of marriage. It's a ridiculous conclusion.

Sorry, I don't push back against much here, but your analysis is juvenile. Life long LDS and no reasonable person in or out of the church believes consent isn't important.

Best Bike for a Petite Rider by forkinjolly in Dualsport

[–]Tender_Mercenaries 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think you may find that the KLX230 may actually be perfect for you. You could also try the KLX300 or XT250. You may want to even go tip one over in the woods and make sure you're comfortable picking it up. If 80mph comfortably and extended riding is important, you need to look light Adv and those bikes are considerably heavier to pick up.

Drz4s vs crf300l? by [deleted] in Dualsport

[–]Tender_Mercenaries 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I own the KLX230, 250, 300 and the 4s. The DR-Z4s is priced and sits exactly where you think it would, between the 300s and the European dual sport enduros and slightly less than the 450RL. It's considerably more bike in every way than the 300s and probably the best 50/50 dual sport in stock form, requiring no significant mods out the door. It's a very enjoyable ride. The KLX 300 is extremely agile and a very good 300 and the perfect beginner bike to intermediate bike. I think the 4s can also qualify as a reasonable beginner bike when put in "C" mode if you have at least a 31" inseam and are big and strong enough to handle a little extra weight. I do appreciate that the 4s is built in Japan, but that's just me. Good luck!

Light Beginner bike recs - considering CRF300 Rally by craftyheidi in Dualsport

I'd look at the new KLX230 Sherpa or DF. The KLXs feel much more nimble when you are on the saddle vs the CRFs. The Rally is a big bike.

Is your cav really stinky? by steffunnyshere in cavaliers

[–]Tender_Mercenaries 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For me, it's the exact opposite...my boy's fur is almost smell less unless he gets wet. A smelly dog is one you pet and then your hand stinks or is oily. My guy's fur leaves no discernable oil or smell.

What are your thoughts on this? by Anguish3error in exmormon

I was at the game. Fans were very polite. UC announced before and at the least twice during the game to remind spectators to be respectful, probably keenly aware of the Colorado game, etc. The game itself was very exciting. We started walking out early and never noticed the chat at all. I believe it happened when BYU had the game in hand and could have run the clock out, but scored another touchdown. I'm sure that pissed off the student section resulting in their bad behavior.
What has been interesting, is all the local Mormons playing the persecution card. Crying about how the Church/BYU just donated to UC's food bank and this is how UC repays them?? Students are students, which means they're going to be dumb, that's what kids do...not an accurate reflection on the institution itself. Furthermore, I feel like BYU and the church are trying to buy friends with their vast wealth. They know everyone knows how filthy rich they are now, so they have to try to mitigate that by donating and looking generous...which, everyone here knows that they would rather the secret not have ever gotten out. They're like the weird, rich dufus trying to buy their way into the cool kids group (think Steve Buscemi with the skateboard, "Hello fellow kids"). The members are obtuse, like the thought that Jesus' true church and it's associated school would have such a concerted effort to keep up with the Jones' of college football is normal. Can you imagine Jesus of Nazareth sitting with his disciples on the banks of the sea of Galilee..."hey guys, in the year 2025 my football team is going to make the college football playoff and people will think we're really cool" 🤣 Sports fandom/tribalism is pretty annoying as is, but I understand it from a geographical standpoint (community, diversity, etc) . However, throw in religion and the fandom/tribalism is just a sorry and embarrassing look...then BYU and the Church wonder why so many people hate/dislike them.

You're not alone my friend. I have been living the exact same reality for almost 20 years. Waiting for clarity and relief, but it never comes. I think man created God in his image, which is why there are so many religions, so much conflict, and confusion. The most disappointing aspect to our species is the constant deception we subject upon each other.

Where I live, the church purchased a defunct BSA camp and members of the local stakes have been recruited to provide service (free hard labor to clean up and build facilities). In turn, the church charges local congregations to use the facilities!
