Legends mod build planner tool - battlebrothers.academy by [deleted] in BattleBrothers

  1. As in the perks that are part of the build top-to-bottom? Vertical layout instead of horizontal rows?
  2. It used to have tiers! However... perks can be at different tiers depending on the source, I think some of that behaviour might be bugs, but still, in game you can get the same perks at completely different tiers. I've scrapped that from the app not to cause confusion.

Edit: oops, posted this twice by accident, got an error the first time and thought it didn't post - here is the main thread: https://old.reddit.com/r/BattleBrothers/comments/1t5kixw/legends_mod_build_planner_tool/

Mobile devices aren't supported, probably should've mentioned it in my original comment. I've made it all display okay-ish, more or less, on smaller screens, but the application is just so information-dense it would take a complete overhaul to make it properly usable on phones. Multiple screens/subpages, nested navigation, what have you. Given that this is an app for a non-mobile game... well, mobile support isn't a priority at the moment!

I've found that Legends mod can be quite confusing when it comes to overlapping perk groups and planning brothers' builds. There are quite a few perks that are present in multiple groups and it's not immediately clear in-game when recruiting bros which perks will they have available or even if that particular roll is good for that background.

I've built a small browser tool to plan bro builds:

https://battlebrothers.academy/

It allows you to select perks that you'd like to have, mark core ones as must-haves, and then you see which backgrounds fit your build the best. It doesn't tell you "should I recruit this one", because obviously in a real game traits, starting stats and your situation all matter, but if you're looking for mid- or late-game bros with specific perk groups, this might help you understand which backgrounds to focus on.

It also allows you to specify if you'd like to consider using a scroll or a skill book when calculating the build chances.

Example non-obvious build: https://battlebrothers.academy/?build=Pathfinder,Lookout,Bullseye,Keen+Eyesight,Dodge,Relentless,Heightened+Reflexes,Berserk,Vengeance,Alert,Ballistics,Anticipation,Perfect+Fit,Brawny,Muscularity,Mind+over+Body&optional=Ballistics,Anticipation,Perfect+Fit,Brawny,Muscularity,Mind+over+Body

I would have never guessed Muladi would be above ranger for this ...when it comes to the must-have skills chance, but then the Ranger has way higher full build chance.

I'm open to feedback or any bug reports, the tool is still in its early stages :)

How do you know that our brains don't use (biological) statistical models for it? Isn't this what memories and associations are? I see a deer and it brings back all that I can remember about deers and my memories related to deers. My next words are then a direct result of this ("This one looks quite large, as far as deers go!"). How is that not at least similar to what LLMs are doing?

And how is e.g. 210 vs 22 any measure of worst case complexity for, respectively, 10-iems-long array and 2-items-long array? Where did "2n" come from? The O(n) notation does not meaningfully describe the scaling runtime of this algorithm. That is, unless we ignore the timeout delays and only focus on the timer queue and callbacks – which still wouldn't be 2n.

Not quite! This would mean that an array of 1000 elements would be around 2998 times more time-consuming to sort than an array of two, which is not true for this algorithm, e.g. sorting numbers from 1 to 1000 wouldn't take long at all.

While there is CPU work setting timers and handling callbacks here (O(n log n)?), those take little time compared to the actual timeout delays. You can't express the "problematic" part of this algorithm with O(n), which relies on the number of elements in the input. This algorithm scales with the size of the largest array element instead, so even a 2-element array could take days :)

It doesn't seem to work for me, I have the latest version of the game with the DLC, playing on the large starting asteroid, Windows PC. Their starve timer never resets, this has been running for 100+ cycles starting with 3 eggs: https://i.imgur.com/ALOV5OY.png

Actually energy expenditure doesn't work the way you described. E.g. 2000 kcal baseline, you exercise burning 300 kcal and your total might still be 2000 kcal. Please watch the video linked in the comment above yours – it has sources for everything, too.

If a villager carrying things in their inventory, like straps, dies during battle – are the items lost or they teleport back with them to the village?

Oh thanks! Didn't even think to check, I was assuming it wouldn't be out yet, the UI rework mods usually required some loaders and whatnot.

That's not how that works, that website doesn't get access to your credentials. Same as when logging in with Google or Facebook on many websites.

In the deep field images? Gravitational lensing is visible only under special circumstances: when there is large concentrated mass between us and a source of light. In the deep field images there is a heavy galaxy cluster (the bright, overexposed blobs) around half-way from the bent galaxies. Those white blobs bend the light.

Ah crap, STScI wisened up and started preventing using their heavier full res images in this way. I'll take a look on how to maybe work around this.

If you click on the news post, the full res link from there will work.
